6-2 Win tonight against Willand goals from Mellenson Prynn x2 Lynch Ives and Hughes with the goals. We played some really good stuff tonight first time I've seen the youth team and have to say we played some really good stuff and in truth could of had double figures.

Next round is in the week beginning 6 October :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:
Yes. Took the lead twice only to be pegged back twice to in 2-2 at Half Time but then controlled the second half to comfortably go through.

A trip to either Bath City or Paulton Rovers awaits us in the next round.

The red bit here is true and precisely what I'd have said. They were good value for their 2-2 at HT. We were miles off the pace and our coaching staff were equally far from impressed. A telling off from Jesus at HT seemed to galvanise their minds and they soon stopped messing about. From then on, it was domination akin to the sort of thing Brain used to spend his time describing to Pinky.

Kudos to Willand, they're clearly capable of playing football. We were wasteful, but they weren't just there to make up the numbers or to feed off our scraps. They were involved in their own right and, for a time, had us jolly worried.

Still, safely through and on to the next round. We're a long way from a plum tie, but we've probably got just enough about our better players to stand a decent chance of, once again, making the third round.

Did Ives play?
Fate: A police dog called Bryn bit Torquay player Jim McNichol and the time while he was receiving treatment was added onto the end of the second half.

Does anybody know if Ives can play in any other positions, or is he purely a full back?

Melanson with more goals. I know you can only beat what's put in front of you, but he does seem to do it pretty effectively. We all know about Prynn, but this kid might be another to look out for over the coming year (and the big dog, Oneil, of course).

When do we find out our opponents for certain, Scorer?

I've now got the result (the game was played at the same time as our game at Twerton Park): Gloucester City 4 Taunton 0

So we're away to Gloucester City in the Third Qualifying Round, week beginning Monday 20 October (actual date not yet confirmed).

That precedes the First Round Proper, to be played no later than Saturday 8 November 2014.

Was anyone there and could give us a quick lowdown? I know very little about our current youth squad.

To be honest I don't know too much myself about our youth squad. There'll be a full match report on the club's official website today (Thursday).

By the way, Gloucester City, our next opponents, currently play at Whaddon Road, Cheltenham, which is Cheltenham's home ground.

Gloucester's historical home ground at Meadow Park, Gloucester, was destroyed by bad floods in 2007, and the club has only recently been awarded outline planning approval by Gloucester City Council to build a new 4,000 capacity stadium, raised by several feet, on the site of their former home.

Shrewsbury had a similar flooding problem at their former ground, Gay Meadow, and the culprit was the same river, the River Severn.

Worcester is another River Severn city, but their club, Worcester City FC, currently plays at Kidderminster. However, they have plans for a new stadium in Worcester itself, hopefully to be flood-free, though the plans include a swimming pool and a 3G full size all weather flood-lit pitch, just in case...
