Gullscorer wrote:To be honest I don't know too much myself about our youth squad. There'll be a full match report on the club's official website today (Thursday).

By the way, Gloucester City, our next opponents, currently play at Whaddon Road, Cheltenham, which is Cheltenham's home ground.

Gloucester's historical home ground at Meadow Park, Gloucester, was destroyed by bad floods in 2007, and the club has only recently been awarded outline planning approval by Gloucester City Council to build a new 4,000 capacity stadium, raised by several feet, on the site of their former home.

Shrewsbury had a similar flooding problem at their former ground, Gay Meadow, and the culprit was the same river, the River Severn.

Worcester is another River Severn city, but their club, Worcester City FC, currently plays at Kidderminster. However, they have plans for a new stadium in Worcester itself, hopefully to be flood-free, though the plans include a swimming pool and a 3G full size all weather flood-lit pitch, just in case...
Just as an aside to this point. severeal hundred attended last nights planning meeting at the city Council. Full aproval was given for the Stadium palns. Uninimous vote 12-0 gave final go ahead for stadium to begin. it's not quite in the same position as the old stadium. being some yards to the south of the roginal one. But it will be some 12 feet higher. I do myself question the wosdom of putting the stadium anywhere near this river. After all. we are talking global warming here and if sea levels rise then even that will not be high enough. but that's their problem.
Worcester City on the other hand had no such problems with their ground and having seen us play there some years ago I could say they had a decenct set up. But stupid direction at the club led them to sell their stadium to developers before they had the nec planning approval in place and poor negotiating led to a price being given for the old ground which meant they didnt have enough money left to pay for any noew stadium. So if they do fold it will be their own fault. A subject we must remain mindfull of at Plainmoor if we are to keep going. Dont even consider moving unless you have a new place funded and actually under construction before you sell

Another goal for Sam Hancox - good to see him following in his Father's footsteps.

Don't know. But isn't he a bit too young?

Will Hancox played, according to the article on the O.S.
