Hemel Hempstead v Torquay F.A Trophy

Post by Dave »

Saturday see's us return to F.A Trophy action, as the Gulls travel to Vauxhall road to meet the Tudors, Hemel Hempstead's Vauxhall Road ground has a 3,152 capacity with 250 seats, for those traveling I believe there is only one turnstile entrance. Hemel Hempstead Town FC started out life as Apsley End FC in 1885 and competed in the Herts county League before moving into the Delphian and then Athenian leagues, in 1955 having already become known as Hemel Hempstead they would change their name to Hemel Hempstead Town FC.

In 1977 Hemel Hempstead joined the Isthmian League, their 6th place finish 2003/4 saw the Tudors gain a place in the Southern league, after a reorganisation of the non-league pyramid brought about the conference south, 2012/13 saw Hemel Hempstead beaten in the southern league play-offs , however last season saw the Tudors finish as southern league champions and promoted to the conference south. This season Hemel Hempstead achieved their best F.A Cup performance qualifying for the first round proper, losing 3.1 to Bury.

For those attending the match click link for parking, pubs and general advice ; http://tudortalk.freeforums.org/informa ... d-t36.html

Hemel Hempstead are currently sat 9th in the conference, their current form reads ; D-D-W-D-W-W

Last time out Hemel Hempstead beat Farnborough 4.1 at home and lined up as follows;

Walker
King
Lee
Parkes
Adjaye
Johnson
Newman
Oli
Hawkins
Shariff
Potton

From a Torquay point of view, influential team captain Luke Young misses the game through suspension, injury is likely to keep Angus MacDonald and possibly Ryan Bowman out of the game, our poor league form continued last Saturday with no wins now in our last 6 league games, our team is now off the pace regards the play-offs, so this Trophy match could be a welcome distraction from our league form, and off the field goings on at Plainnmoor.

Our current form reads; L-L-D-D-W-L

Our team lined for the 2.1 away defeat to Altrincham as follows;

23 Seabright
29 Berry Booked
04 Downes
05 Pearce
03 Cruise Booked
12 Chapell
06 Harding Booked (Richards - 78' )
08 Young Booked
11 Cameron (Briscoe - 46' Booked )
24 Ofori-Acheampong (Yeoman - 55' )
10 Ajala Booked

I just hope Chris picks the best side Briscoe has got to start with Ajala wide. Cameron needs a bomb up his backside to hear a manager say the games changed you don't need to do this the mind boggles.

Agreed, we're not going to get an easy ride Saturday, the F.A Trophy has become important now, to build confidence and to bank some money, so best team and have ago, Briscoe is wasted on the wing, put him in behind Bowman if he's fit, and watch him score goals and make chances.

I should like to see Prynn travel with the team, if we're doing well bring the lad on. Briscoe has to start though. Cameron can do one for all I care, give me Ajala and Chappell. I'll be there, COYY!

Tough on Cameron, but perhaps we should sign up Farage in the summer..

Bowman back tomorrow-his chest complaint was a heart scare and he's seen a consultant in London. Given all clear but has been having palpatations during matches, which is obviously pretty scary, and might explain his indifferent form of late.

That's gone over my head. You what?

He has done nothing this season and his work rate is very poor.

In case you hadn't heard, the Prime Minister's name is Cameron, and Farage is one of his political opponents, and that was my attempt at a little joke (I often try to stretch the limits of humour).. :)

Cameron/Farage

We did have Holmes/Watson and Hill/Mansell at one time... any others?
Would Billy Elliot also count?

We don't need another right winger

My away trips so far this season:

Dartford ... D 0-0
Aldershot ... L 2-0
Dover ... D 2-2
Braintree ... L 2-0
Welling ... D 0-0

A grand total of 2 goals in those 5 matches. And some bloody awful performances to boot.

Yep, bodes well for tomorrow then!
