Aldershot v Torquay Easter Monday 3PM KO
Aldershot v Torquay Easter Monday 3PM KO
The Gulls squad travel to the ESS stadium, Aldershot, GU11 1TW for an Easter Monday showdown with The Shots http://www.theshots.co.uk/club/directions/ Aldershot is ground that our fan base know well, and the ESS Stadium has been a happy hunting ground for The Gulls, out of our five visits to the reformed Aldershot Town, Torquay have secured all three points, on three occasions, Aldershot who were relegated a year before us, like Torquay have by and large struggled with life back in the non-league and will not be happy with their current position.
After a run of two wins and eight defeats in ten games that left Aldershot to close to the relegation zone for their comfort manager Andy Scott was sacked on 26th January . Chris Barker was appointed caretaker player manager the following day, now confirmed in role until the seasons end, since then, Aldershot have seen a marked upturn in form, The Shots have picked up fifthteen points from Barkers ten games in charge, whilst top managers will tell you they never stop learning, I ask is experience the only pre-requisite to be successful in football management.
I watched Aldershot's game versus FGR on BT sport, this was a game of two half's, having seen the performances of both teams it came as no surprise to me the first half went true to form with FGR leading 1.0 at the break, the second half gave everyone an insight into Chris Barkers potential ability to turn a game in his sides favour, Aldershot were a completely different side after the break, creating a number of good chances before a devastating three goals in eight minutes secured them the points, make no mistake about it, if the Aldershot team of the second half turn up Monday, our team will face a very difficult afternoon, I'd take a point right now.
Former Gulls in The Shots line up
Damon Lathrope; Damon Lathrope signed for Torquay in 2010 after his release from Norwich City's youth set up, Damon who took a while to break his way into the first team and win over supporters, soon became a popular midfield player for his combative performances, Damon Played 109 games for The Gulls before signing for Aldershot in the close season. Damon appears to be used in a more creative role, and takes all set pieces for The Shots.
Ryan Jarvis ; Ryan Jarvis has sgined for Aldershot on loan from York until the seasons end, Ryan Joined Torquay on loan in 2012 and after a successful fourteen game loan spell scoring twice he became a permanent signing, Ryan would go on to play a further thirty-eight games for The gulls scoring seven goals, however his goals towards the end of the season went along way to keeping Torquay in the league to Aldershot's detriment.
Featured Aldershot player
Brett Williams ; Brett Williams started his career with Eastleigh, but would enjoy three separate spells with The Spitfires, it was during Brett's third spell at Eastleigh he came to the fore and in 2011 earned a move to Reading, however he would make no impact their, and after three loan moves signed for Aldershot in 2013, Brett Williams has scored an impressive Thirty-six goals in seventy-seven games for The Shots, and despite the chance coming from a mistake from the Rovers keeper, his control and finish for his goal on Friday was as good as you'll see, a real threat and one to watch Monday.

Today saw the return of Duane Ofori-Acheampong after some very difficult personal circumstances with the loss of his sister, both strikers John Campbell and Ryan Bowman missed the game and may be doubtful for Monday, and Luke Young misses the game through suspension, I have run out words to use now, our poor form and set of results continue, their are no mitigating circumstances to justify this season, just none, think it's fair to say wholesale changes are needed will we get them.

If O'achie was booked then he is suspended now for reaching 10 bookings (I think)

You might be right Scott, so hard to keep up with team news, as it's never forth coming, sure we'll find out between now and Monday.

Kids go in free when accompanied by a paying adult, I presume when it's all children it means those entering the away end as well.

O'Achie was definitely booked and I'm fairly sure you're right - it is his 10th booking. Forever - is the 'Plummer' who plays for them Tristan Plummer who played for us once? Seems about his level - playing in a side below us. And do you know what's happened to Joe Oastler? He doesn't seem to be appearing in the Shots line-up these days - maybe he's injured.Scott Brehaut wrote:If O'achie was booked then he is suspended now for reaching 10 bookings (I think)

Just checked the FA site - it is definitely the tenth booking so I'm guessing a ban for Monday.
Tomo - it is the same Plummer who played for us.

Yes, as Scott says, Plummer did play for Torquay on loan from Bristol City 2009, however it was such a short term with us, didn't think it worth a mention.

Could be wrong but wouldn't be surprised if we start to see some fresh blood in tomorrow's team. Lavercombe to be given a chance after Rice's gaff yesterday? If Campbell and/or Bowman are still injured and O'Archie now suspended plus Yeoman given numerous chances and clearly not up to the standard needed then Prynn to be given a start? Or Benyon back from his Hayes loan tomorrow?! Perhaps not on second thoughts!
Lets see what this young Parcell can do and recall him from Bideford before the season ends.
