Finished 1-0 to us with Chaney getting the only goal although Lavercombe did have to save a penalty in the second half. No sign of any new signings with just the 5 trialists still left it seems - Spiess, Topless, Maduako, Richards and Mitchell.
Not an ideal game to have so close to the start of the season really - would have been better off playing it a couple of weeks ago - the only real contest was in the first half as the Truro team featured a number of "legends" in the second half including the likes of Martin Gritton. I can understand now why Paul Cox is seemingly trying to fit in a behind closed doors friendly with Oxford !

Been planning to take in some friendlies when squad building was finished to give me chance to look at what our squad shape is going to be like, away on holiday next week, so will miss Plymouth, will be back same day as the Exeter match, wont be missing that game, looking forward to it.

Strange how the goals are drying up as we play better opposition (not) - we desperately need that replacement for Bowman.

I felt that we looked better at the back, thought both keepers ok, the midfield lacked creativeness with Young to far forward. Thought it looked a better balance when Chaney played in behind the strikers and has done in all the friendlies.
We need a leader who can hold the ball up front 6ft plus, as we are putting long throws into the box with midgets trying to get on the end of them. It's dodgy sending your centre halves up for every throw. Came away thinking we are a couple short of a reasonable side.

So, who played tonight, then?
Added in 3 minutes 7 seconds:
Was it Spiess in goal again? Hope he's gained some confidence. Looked very ordinary vs Tiverton.

The starting lineup was as follows: Speiss, Butler, Fenwick, MacDonald, Briscoe, Young (c), Marsh, Richards, Kellerman, Smith, Geohaghon. There were plenty of substitutions, you can find them on the club's twitter feed.torq2u wrote:So, who played tonight, then?
Woefully lightweight up front tonight against a solid, well organised defence. Interesting tactic playing Courtney Richards at right back. I thought he did reasonably well but got caught out of position a few times. Fenwick and, especially, Kelleman (?) looked okay in midfield. Geoghaghon - a commanding presence and a terrific throw but just about as mobile as the Eddystone Lighthouse. For me, Angus and Luke Young were the stand out players. Surprised only four subs used - Lavercombe for Speiss, Chaney for Fenwick who picked up a knock late in the game, Yeoman for Marsh who did not impress tonight and a triallist (presumably) wearing the no. 9 shirt for Briscoe. I didn't catch his name over the muffled speaker system on the Pop side. Oh ...... and Chris Fleet forgot to order the programmes !! But he's doing a good job so we'll let him off that little oversight.
Argyle also didn't look particularly strong up front. I think both sides are 'works in progress'.
What's the background of Kelleman? Have we signed him, or is he a loanee? Or a triallist? Looked to be a decent player.
