Anyone know anything about Short, Mitchell, Horgen, Bowen, Sinclair or Etme? Presumably, at this stage of the pre-season, they have probably trialled with other clubs but weren't offered contracts. But no Ryan Bobbel ..... hmmm.

An embarrassing performance to be honest - we were totally inept in the second half and were taken apart by their winger Billy Tucker who had a trial with Bristol Rovers last year and looked better than anything we had on show.
Lavercombe was hopeless - totally failed to command his area. At fault for their second and nearly handed them a third. Some of our triallist looked inept and the whole exercise looked a complete waste of time. Embarrassing.

Must agree with Brucie - our midfield was non-existent - and Billy Tucker looked to me the sort of 110% player Coxey is looking for....
Fisher took his goal well, but I think Malaci was better all round against the Grecians - very few (if any) of tonight's lot will be starting Saturday with the possible exception of Fairhurst ..

The midfield triaists possibly could have been youngsters Jamie Horgan, an attacking midfielder released by Bristol City, and Jaye Bowen, a young midfielder released by Cardiff (and son of Jason Bowen).
Pure speculation, just released with little experience and maybe explains why we were overrun in midfield.

I was at Bideford last night, no-one knew more than 2 or 3 of the Torquay line up, and that included the players. As an example when we took the lead we asked the 5 subs warming up near us who had scored and none of them knew.
This was a quickly arranged game and clearly, judging by the lack of talent in the side, a match arranged to look at just 1 or 2 of the players seriously, with the rest making up the numbers.
This was not a full strength Bideford side by any stretch of the imagination and in the second half they controlled the game with confidence.
Some of the United players got really frustrated with what was going on, there was the odd unnecessary tackle and one player in particular was screaming swear words for most of the evening, and all of this made us look quite unprofessional as a club.

I guess this is why Cox was trying to get it arranged behind closed doors!
