Let's hope all the comings and goings are over now, and that in future silence can be equated with progress.

Closest I can think of is Dan Gosling but he's a Brixham boy.

Colin Lee, both he and Robbie I believe were ex-Cuthbert Mayne pupils at different times of course.

As for this appointment, it's sensible isn't it ? Robbie I know is a very good coach, again he's local, knows the game inside and out, who better on funds our club are working with.

Perhaps he is actual birth was in Torquay, with Buckfastleigh probably not having the facilities back then, but that is just a guess. I think you're correct that he was 'from' Buckfastleigh.

I remember Robbie Herrara as a young left-back, playing for WBB in the Torbay Pioneer League, and I played against him for Torre Trojans and I didn't get a sniff. He completely marked me out of the game.

Later when I lived in London, I worked with Fulham fans who used to rave about him and he was good for us when he returned, until the end when he just seemed to dink floaty balls forward without much pace.

He played at a higher level than KN did however, and has been coaching for some time, so I don't think it is the worst appointment.

Hopefully, what we have are two intelligent people running the show, with the same progressive ethos.

Apart from Colin Lee (he did live in Buckfastleigh but was born in Torquay) already mentioned, there was Sid Cann who played for Manchester City in the top flight and FA Cup final. Bruce Stuckey was at Sunderland. He went there when they were in the top division, but I am not sure if he played in the top flight for them. He did play in the second division after they were relegated. I think there are a couple more .... but I'm not as young as I used to be! ;-)

There was also Ralph Birkett who went on to play for Arsenal, Middlesborough and Newcastle and gained an England cap (just one !). He was born in Dartmouth - okay, not quite Torquay but just down the road. He played for us in the 1930s - bit before my time. But I expect Stefano can remember seeing him play ........ ;-)

And a bit further down the road, born in Kingsbridge - Peter Wakeham, goalkeeper who went on to play for Sunderland. I have to admit to remembering him !

Intelligence, along with energy, is a great asset in any job.

All players should be required to take intelligence tests before signing for the club. :)
