FA TROPHY

Post by lucy6lucy »

We are in the draw for the first round tomorrow. I appreciate many see this tournament as a waste of time, but £5000 to the winners of the 1st round, I am sure will be much needed funds to the club if we can progress. I have no idea if it's North/south draw for 1st round, but this is the last chance we have to get additional funds. Based on last year if your drawn away, the overnight expenses are paid for out the gate receipts.

Doubt we'll be seeing that this season.

This being said it was a nice day out all those years ago, we must have taken what 10k up there? Only to put in a rank performance and lose to a team we really should have beaten.

Basingstoke away..

Added in 2 hours 26 minutes 45 seconds:
Looking at the results of the last round, we can't get Basingstoke as they lost, that's something positive I suppose.

Josh Carmichael got to the final at we mobley while on loan at Gosport Boro they lost 4 0 to Cambridge but made about 80,000 pounds so we could get there we just have to get good draws and a bit of luck

So it's not 'tin pot' any more. We'll be lucky to get beyond Rd. 1. this year.

Chesham Utd play Frome Town at home tomorrow to decide who meets United at Plainmoor on 12 December.
Next Sunday Chesham are away to Bradford City in the FA Cup which should be a big pay day for them.
Chesham beat Billericay Town 2-0 away and Swindon Supermarine 3-2 away in the first two rounds of the FA Trophy.
Chesham beat Bristol Rovers on 8 November 1-0 with a 77th minute goal so they certainly cannot be underestimated assuming they beat Frome Town tomorrow.

Up in Bath for Uni. Have caught a couple of Frome games this season. Generally horrific, but two very pacey players that occasionally do something special. Looks set to be Chesham.

Chesham have Barry Hayles as their player-manager. He came on as a sub and set up the goal that knocked out Rovers in the FA Cup.

I can remember watching the Reserves (Jackie Swindells and all) versus Frome Town in about 1964. If we lost - at home - to them IT WOULD BE THE END OF EVERYTHING.
