Tyrone Marsh
Tyrone hasn't scored in his last four appearances so perhaps he isn't that good!
We do seem to be top heavy on strikers so maybe his departure was always part of the recruitment planning but before we pass judgement on all and sundry we should wait and see if he goes, where he goes and what sort of deal we get.

Continue the recent improvement? are you having a laugh - We've LOST the last three league games. All we do is get further and further behind. Nicholsons record is abysmal.
Do we? We may have players who claim to be strikers, but there is not a lot of evidence to show that it's true!Jack wrote: .. We do seem to be top heavy on strikers ..
I wouldn't call 4 top heavy. I would call that normal. The fact that we've been operating with less for so long seems to have convinced some in the fan base that all you need is a couple.oldpedant wrote: Do we? And as for improved performances - yes, they have improved. To me though, that probably confirms we're going to get relegated. We have played well against Wrexham, Dover, Grimsby, FGR, and Gateshead at home, and FGR, Cheltenham, Woking, Southport away since Nicholson took over. From those games we saw 2 wins.
Teams that win whether they play well or badly get promoted. Teams that win when they play well, lose when they play badly finish in mid table. Teams that lose when they play badly, and lose when they play well get relegated. We are firmly in the latter camp.
Nicholson has improved the football, but hasn't eliminated the errors that cost us games (like Saturday). Atkins saved us because he eliminated as many of those errors as possible, and to hell with the football.
Nicholson being unable to manage players such as Marsh just compounds the fact he is completely out of his depth.
Is it a case of Nicho wanting Marsh out, or is it simply a case of Marsh wanting out? He (Marsh) certainly didn't look best pleased when he was subbed off (rather harshly, I thought) on Saturday. If it is the former, then maybe Nicho just cannot handle the fact that not every player in the team is going to "like" him or want to play for him, but if that individual is one of, if not your best, player - then you have a dilemma. I would suggest that pretty much every football team in the country will have one or two players who are higher maintenance than the rest - they are after all a large group of young men. If Nicho thinks handling difficult players is not worth the hassle at this level, then I wonder how he would cope with managing the multi millionaire egos that make up most Premiership squads. I wonder how he would " manage" a Diego Costa? Surely, for the sake of the team and the sake of our slim chances of survival it would be better to put up with a "bad apple" for just a few more months rather than let him go for peanuts - particularly when that individual is your top scorer and remains our best and most potent goal threat?
If it is the latter then I think he (Nicho) should remind Marsh that he is under contract and tell him that he should see it out. After all, let's face it, all the squad are out of contract in the summer and if, as is more than likely, we go down, I wouldn't expect many, if any, to be retained. He (Marsh) can get his move in the summer! He (Marsh) may not like it, but tough! That is what proper Managers do and if Nicho doesn't want to lose Marsh ( after all it was only a few days ago that he included him in his strikers "union") then he should politely decline his request for a move, and we move on!
As for the Board, well given that they are (supposedly) in charge of all of this, you have to wonder what on earth they have been thinking about to allow, in the space of just SIX months .... out top scorer (Bowman) and our second top scorer (Briscoe) from last season to walk out the door, and then our top scorer ( Hurst) and (if we are to believe the rumours) now our second top scorer (Marsh) from this season, to leave the building as well! No wonder we are in the mess we are in with decisions like this being made over such a short space of time - complete and utter madness. When fit and firing, any combination from those four players are in my opinion, capable of 20 to 25 goals a season as a pairing at this level ... and we've let them all go !!!
As for the supposed team strengthening that we were expecting in this transfer window, well there is still plenty of time left for movement but at the moment we have seen Ajala (decent enough, but not deemed good enough for a regular start with Dover), Harrad ( a great player in the past but third choice striker at Worcester City this season) and Blissett ( not getting a look in at Bristol Rovers and not deemed good enough by either Tranmere or Lincoln to want to sign on a permanent deal) all come in BUT we have seen Heslop, Briscoe and (allegedly) Marsh now leave - which, in my book at least, leaves us being in a position where it is highly questionable as to whether we have actually strengthened the team or actually weakened it further still??? Hardly the sort of stuff you would expect from the owners/management of the club in our perilous position!!!
There are what four days left of the transfer window, not long really, to add the quality needed to give us a chance of saving our season - and yet all the talk so far this week since the hugely disappointing result against Gateshead is of who else might be leaving (MacDonald', Marsh etc) - not what we hoped for, or expected, particularly given how many players were moved on in December/January. I am of the firm believe that Cox got it badly wrong by bloating out the squad with players who were just not of a sufficient quality and so I agreed with the cull, but only on the basis that we used the wages saved to bring in better players in key positions and we made a good start early on in this month .... but it's all gone too quiet since then and being turned down by the likes of Keohane and Racchi ... just shows how difficult a job it must be to "sell" this club right now. We need another 2 or 3 quality additions, we do not need to be losing our top scorer and (still) our biggest goal threat!

Marsh is one of few players at the club who can successfully take a man on. I totally agree with you CP particularly after yet another forward departure. The Club needs to demonstrate its mettle. Letting players go and struggling to replace them has become a pathetic theme. I have been patient for a long time but the pattern clearly suggests that this manager cannot retain or recruit players. He needs to immediately prove us wrong.

Hi Gdog8
Where do you get your information from?
You seem pretty certain of him going?
18 month deal at Dover. No mention of any fee.

Quote from the Dover Express "He is young and very ambitious, which fits in with what we are trying to achieve."
That must be why he has gone......he doesn't fit with our current ethos, he is ambitious!!
I will give TUFC the courtesy of waiting until the transfer window closes, to allow time for significantly better incoming players to arrive, before I finally agree that we (and in that I mean all management and players) have no chance (or desire) of saving the club from relegation.
Here's hoping !!!

Can"t help but think we'll regret this. It's certainly a lot of faith to show in Harrad and Blissett, two players who are badly out of form and both haven't scored in a long time. For a team that's playing well but stuggling to create chances and score, letting Marsh leave looks to be a crazy decision as he's the only person we've had that looks like scoring.

More than a "shame", it is downright f'ing negligence and a huge slap in the face for loyal fans. I am f'ing furious, incandescent. I don't care that he gave in a transfer request, we should have said no. Our club is doomed, I could weep. Shame on the Board.yellowsmiffy wrote:A quick google and saw this from his Twatter account:

Only 22 as well - he actually has real potential. What a bloody shame
