If you can see Nico becoming the next Paul Tisdale after watching the last 4 home games HELP

Ridiculous!

Did you see the last 16(ish) home games before that?! With absolutly no budget Nicho has turned us from a Laughing stock, to an alright team.
With a small Budget and a bit of time on his side who knows what he could do!
To the dotted line, We're on our way

er, we beat kiddy 3-2.
drew with Braintree (who have been playing well hence their position in the league) 0-0
and it was a must not lose game v Halifax.

I don't care who "Nico" "becomes" or doesn't. As "Nico" he's doing pretty good.

Ha ! Brilliant. Had a good laugh at that. Good to know that Yorkshire humour is alive and well !! By the way, Nicky Wroe  had a solid game on Tuesday night. Nothing spectacular but doing his bit in midfield for the Shaymen. He made one balls up by miscontrolling the ball and letting it roll out of touch in front of the Pop Side fans. Needless to say, he got a bit of stick. He just gave them a wry smile. Good player - great character.

Accept your point but will have to agree to disagree - aside from a possible great escape the place is still foaming with frustration as the most irrational, eccentric, self-defeating, dysfunctional, implausible football club in the conference. A club that seems hell-bent on turning incompetence into an art form. A club where every good idea feels like beginner's luck and the next lamp-post is always around the corner. This season has been painfully typical and nobody can be entirely sure where it all leads now with the onset of a buy out of the club that is shrouded by a veil of secrecy. Torquay Utd is a football club that serves the community it should be open and transparent and not permitted to stay private in the interest of lining some directors pocket with gold coins.

There is the FA's owners-and-directors' test which is there, supposedly, to safeguard clubs but it does not root out everyone, as the supporters of Hereford, can testify. I can remember when Notts County were taken over in 2009, the new owners (presumably in the name of the club) entered into contracts , yet by the time they had resold the club in the same year they still had not satisfied the FA that they were fit and proper persons - indeed, the FA (let alone the club's fans) never even knew who those owners were.
Yes some people do leave a mark on a football club but many tend to leave a stain. Torquay United is a story of how not to run a football club, and it will be the thickest, heaviest book on your shelf. As supporters we may not except any sympathy but, by God, we deserve it

Wow ! That's a rant and a half, Mellowyellow. Let's hold our fire until we know who is involved in this proposed takeover and we will know all in good time. I agree with Kernowgull - it is not unusual for people buying into a football club to conduct negotiations in private. We just have to hope and trust that mistakes made in the past won't be repeated (thinking especially of the Chris Roberts fiasco).

There is such a thing as a Non-Disclosure Agreement, or NDA. It will almost certainly have been signed at the start of the talks.

This is true but that still wouldn't stop the board announcing that they were in talks to sell our club. That's all it needed, just one short statement, "We are in advanced talks to sell your club, can't say any more than that at the moment but just wanted to let you know".
Were it not for journalists asking the question we would know nothing.

We have to remember that Phillips/Breed etc saved the club and we can't thank them enough for it. However, when no news is out one can't help but feel a bit nervy about it! Just hope it doesn't affect the teams performances.

I trust Mr Phillips to get this right after all he's done, I just hope that TUFC's home remains where it currently is.

Conspiracy theories aside, it's actually good business sense to not divulge too much information about the bid until its done. If the prospective owners information and details of the proposed deal came out, another bidder might think about showing an interest and push the price up.

Not that I think the phone is ringing off the hook with people wanting to give us money, but it does make sense to do it this way. I guess we just have to trust that both sides are doing their due diligence

I doubt the price would go up, they're already exclusively negotiating. When it gets to that stage, they've usually agreed upon a price and they're going through the books, checking out the state of assets, negotiating over the finer aspects of the sale. Of course plenty of sales fall apart at this stage but that's because of cold feet or new things coming to light as they assess the company, not often because a company fundamentally changes it's bid if the club is in the state that it was advertised in.

There wouldn't be much point in entering an exclusive negotiation period if you hadn't already tentatively agreed upon a price as otherwise you'd just be wasting a month or two that could be spent finding other bidders, if your partner states an awful price after the whole period.

More than likely they're just big into privacy. Still unusual for it not to leak somewhere. Guess that's one of the plus points of the utter lack of communication from the board recently, there's no lines of contact to leak it :~D
