... has taken a year off from commentating on Argyle games, though he still has weekday radio shows on BBC Radio Devon. He says, after so many years commentating with Argyle, basically he's knackered.

don't begrudge him saying he's had enough and making the decision to step away for a bit - good for him. Presumably he has some savings or other income to tide him over while he's not doing that any more. I'd love to take a year off from my job and finally get round to writing that book I've been promising myself for ten years, but I can't.

Still, as I say - good for him; there are things more important that football.
