Highway to Hele nominated for 'Fanzine of the Year' award

Post by bobby93 »

Hi gang,

I just wanted to share with you the incredible news that Highway to Hele has been shortlisted for the 'Fanzine of the Year' award by the Football Supporters' Federation. The winner is announced on 5th December.

http://www.fsf.org.uk/latest-news/view/ ... -announced

http://www.torquayheraldexpress.co.uk/t ... story.html

I don't really need to tell you how much of an achievement this is, but to see our little zine sat on the same list as long-running counterparts at Stoke, Manchester United and Leeds is quite something. To my knowledge we're only the second non-league fanzine to be nominated for the award. It's a huge honour and testament to the hard work of the writers, photographers, artists and sellers over the last two years. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey so far. There's more to come.

You can still get copies of Issue 11 or four-issue subscriptions from the online shop: http://www.highwaytohele.bigcartel.com
FINAL ISSUE (#13) & back issues of TUFC fanzine Highway to Hele available now from http://www.highwaytohele.bigcartel.com

Good positive news from a bunch of lads who decided to get together to make this fanzine happen. Hard work and gritty determination. Full credit to them.

Great news.

They get 3 replies of congratulations and folk wonder why the club is going down the sh1tter. .

YorkieAndy is right, sorry bobby93 for not adding my congrats earlier. Good news on here is a bit unusual at the moment, so lovely to see that you're on the shortlist and fingers crossed for 5th (December, not place)

I do see what Andy means. We had the same thing with Andy Candy's thread. 1000s of whinging moaners giving it mouth about this, that and the other. A thread pops up offering the chance to do something positive about our situation and everyone goes quiet.
Similar thing to the 400k thread.
The question is asked whether, given the choice between GI and us, could we raise the money to keep the club going. Plenty of noise about doing it, but no actual action. Much hand wringing and promises of money if certain conditions are met, but no real action.

Well done to Rob for creating such an eminently enjoyable publication with startling regularity. Here's to many more.

Matt.
