You may find some information in the various Herald Express articles here: http://www.torquayheraldexpress.co.uk/sport
I am glad that Neal has brought us back on subject, but is it any wonder that this forum is referred to by some as the Kiddies Forum when we get petty and infantile postings such as this ? For goodness sake, GROW UP !!!ferrarilover wrote: And finally: so now all bearded Muslims (and those of other faiths or none at all) look like garden gnomes? They all look alike, you mean? As usual Tomo, your efforts are well intentioned, but aimed at the wrong target.
There was I, merrily minding my own business when I was subjected to a personal and Islamophobic attack. That I have posted in my own defence and taken stick from you for so doing does rather align you with the man making those comments.
Wise? You tell me.
Matt.

If only we had a way we could privately message each other if we disagree, rather than take up the forum with stuff like this....

Quite simply Scott - I find your post disgraceful! How dare you infer that one could use a private message instead of public sledging! Where is the fun in that?!Scott Brehaut wrote:If only we had a way we could privately message each other if we disagree, rather than take up the forum with stuff like this....
In fairness though merse has come onto the forum as he has a 'right to reply' (very fair) when being discussed on here where as he (and others) talk openly about Matt on BTPIR yet he does not afford him the same opportunity to defend himself due the fact he has banned him from posting on HIS site. Ironic!

Im not sure if its the same with other clubs, but there never seems to be a period of "normality" with TUFC.
I guess the fact the GI attended one game is something, notsure what, but something.
I forgot Mel Heymans previous connection, Ive heard the name. I guess this is good news?
Also, mmmmmmmm...... other forums, yes Ive heard of them on here but never visited, maybe its time to give them ago for a while

Good old 'Merse' is at it again - the possible new chairman knows nothing about it, but 'Merse' does
QUOTE: The further information being that ~ as far as I can ascertain ~ the person understood to come in as chairman has not at this moment been approached to do anything of the sort leading me to speculate (and I emphasize the phrase 'speculate') that the wording of the learned Dave Thomas when he mentioned 'former directors' being part of the new board being no less than Bill Phillips as you speculated before Christmas......and who?
Maybe 'Merse' is to be the new chairman - we could do worse, but then that would be pure speculation .. oh, hang on a minute, we are alloowed to speculate!

This article for bar staff says that applicants should contact Bernie Phillips, any idea who that is!?

They may have been more busy with matters related to that on the "Plainmoor For Sale" thread.Neal wrote:Getting back to subject!
Can someone enlighten me on what GI have done since the purchase.

Something strikes me as a bit odd. On both this site and TFF there have been personal attacks on Merce who happens to run another forum.
These attacks have only started recently since the GI take over. What is more the orchestrator of these attacks on each forum is a member who has only been registered in the last month.
To me this smacks of a deliberate campaign to divide TUFC supporters amongst themselves and it would appear to be working.

I know its not exactly the same situation, but Basingstoke had council approval to sell the Camrose and move to a new stadium. But planning didn't pass and its now a no go. Lobby your councilor, especially those who live in the bay and close to Plainmoor. Then object to any planning application. Maybe this is where TUST must step in.

Hence our decision to forget past events and allow Merse the chance to post freely on here. We're well aware of the tactics employed by concerns like GI and this is not the time to let petty squabbling divide the fans.Plainmoor78 wrote:Something strikes me as a bit odd. Of Paramount importance is the meeting to discuss the future of Plainmoor. I'd advise everybody that now is the time to get active and oppose the plans that GI have. Any new ground we might inherit will only be a chain around our necks and give us a crippling bill every month.
GI don't care about us and are only here ahead of time to stop Dave Phillips attempts to enter us into administration. Anyone who thinks they are our Knights in shining armour need to bloody wake up. I've said it before, they will strangle this club to gain the last penny from it if we don't get in their way and stop them.
I think Merse got his idea about Bill Phillips from a conversation we had this morning where I outlined my fears that people were assuming it would be Alex Rowe when IMHO he'd be very unlikely to want to be their trophy chairman. The logical choice from amongst the previous board would be the ever ambitious and totally incompetent Bill Phillips. Make of that what you will.

I think that is the word - vigilance and Merse has penned a correct summation of the situation surrounding Torquay United. Once again, we have to be thankful for the forums as there is indeed a serious desire for the club to succeed by the majority of the participants coupled with in depth knowledge of the club. The participants also have a wide variety of specialist skills and disciplines which can only serve the cause well if times get even trickier. I have nothing against TUOSC, have become a member and they have been helpful in money raising ideas for the roof for the disabled area. However, the TUST, a democratically run organisation is the key. I was always suspicious of the 'Official' in the TUOSC - unnecessary. At a time when a united front was needed here was division. As time has gone on I can see that they fill a void on various projects and I am pleased that they have recruited supporters who perhaps for whatever reason did not join the TUST. I look upon TUST as a bastion of defence against the marauding attackers trying to overcome the citadel. I have given them my £100. They must be the big voice representing us and we should back them to the hilt. It is absolutely possible there will be no need for them to get involved. GI will invest in the team, build a new stadium (5 years at the very least - more like 10) and all will be rosey. I do feel though, that there will be battles ahead which we must engage and who better to represent us all than TUST with a large membership and a fighting fund to start off with. We must be prepared for battle even if there isn't one. Remember Admiral Byng.
