So I'm thinking looking at simular level managers who have been at clubs for a long period of time and transformed them.

Mark Collier at Chippenham Town- Took over 3 years ago bottom of the league, keeping them up and has improved them every season and recently winning the Southern league with a record amount of points into the National League South. Also has an assistant who has a good coaching background and they were succesful together at Supermarine on a shoe string budget previous to Chippenham.

Bobby Wilkinson at Hungeford Town- Been at Hungerford for years. Had a couple promotions in that time. And had a decent 1st season in the National South.

Tommy Killick at Poole Town- Couple promotions at Poole and again had a strong 1st season in the National South. Also pretty local so will know the area and where to pull out the talent?

What are peoples thoughts?

Martyn Rodgers and Sean Joyce have done the same at Tiverton and Bideford.

It's down to the amount of funds left in the budget the directors and Chairman are in the driving seat. We will never know what's in it.

mark yates has a great track record and used to working with a small budget, would be a great choice for us.

Our most successful manager ever - Frank O'Farrell - came to us from Weymouth Town who I believe were in the old Southern League at the time. Certainly Chippenham and Poole have been successful sides in recent seasons. Mark Yates would be a strong contender as Zippy has posted. But ..... the million dollar question. These guys will dig behind the scenes and they will find out pretty damn quick what a desperate state the club is in off the field. When Frank O'Farrell was appointed, our chairman was Tony Boyce and the club was being run as a good football club should be.

Exactly the direction I'd like to see the club go down, 10 out of 10 D-D-G for thinking outside the box, rather than Buckle, Leroy, Mansell, Todd, Tully surprised Kevin Hill and Matt Hockley haven't been mentioned anywhere yet, wonder if either still love the club, seems to be the only qualification needed in the books of some.

But, as Arcadia says, depends on just how much money our owners are prepared to throw at this, I won't hold my breath for to long.

It'll be Harrop.

Or Herrera will have a couple of good wins and be offered the job.

Either appointment would be a disaster.

Would be quite the PR disaster for the club to advertise for a new manager, making it clear they're looking, only for Harrop to take the job. Plus Dave Thomas on the podcast today quite explicitly said Harrop didn't want the job and while Dave is compromised in terms of his attitude towards GI, he doesn't usually state things as fact that he doesn't have evidence for, indeed he's very conservative.

that's true.
but completely different circumstances.
In those days you wouldn't get dumped out of the football league even if you p155ed on the FA's HQ's steps....
we need someone with at least NL experience. we cant afford for to go down the no experience route again if TUFC are to remain in the NL.

Why is these two get wheeled out every time we have a vacancy? Can people not see outside of Devon?

It's because they are the best we've got at this level in Devon have you watched their teams because they produce the goods with the budget given.
It's because we don't know what funds are available.

Richard hill from woking not a huge budget when he was at woking and did a good job with them
