Thought the retained list was being issued at 18:00 - no sign yet.

Surely it can't take long to write 2/3 names on a piece of paper!!

It is very, very competitive but slower in pace from the National League which makes it less easy for a player of Young's genre to find the time to play in the manner which his fans are accustomed to.

A midfield of energy and physical strength is a must. Of men rather than boys and talker/bollockers and leaders that's for sure.....it will be no easy option.

Jamie Reid is under contract for next season.

Transfer Listed
Josh Gowling, Ryan Clarke and Jon-Paul Pittman have been placed on the transfer listed and will be circulated as available to other clubs.

New Offers
Torquay United have issued offers of re-engagement to Luke Young, Brett Williams, Sean McGinty, Ruairi Keating, Liam Davis and Vincent Dorel, and the players have been given a set time period to respond.

Released
The club has decided to release Reece Mitchell, Conrad Balatoni, Sam Chaney, Yan Klukowski and Jake Gosling. We would like to thank all of them for their efforts at Torquay United and wish them the best in the future.

Discussions
The club is entering discussions with Jakub Sokolik and Neal Osborn on a future agreement and more details will be revealed in due course.

Loan Players
All loan players (George Dowling, Connor Lemonheigh-Evans, Michee Efete, Tommy O’Sullivan, Rhys Healey, Elliot Romain, Aaron Barnes) will now return to their parent clubs and we would like to thank all of them for their efforts at Torquay United, and wish them the best in the future.

Pre-Season
Torquay United’s pre-season training will commence on July 1 and we have provisionally booked six pre-season friendly fixtures. Full details will be published in due course.

I'd be very happy to see Luke Young, Brett Williams, Sean McGinty, Ruairi Keating, Liam Davis and Vincent Dorel in our NLS squad to be honest! If they don't stay then it looks like we will building our squad around Jamie Reid!!

A little surprised about Sokolik - came to us with a decent pedigree but he has only featured in 5 games (3 of which were losses!).

I wonder if there will be any attempt at signing any of the loan players or is that it? "We wish them all the best in the future" suggests they are all gone?

No arguments with that really. Problem is who in their right mind will take Clarke, Gowling or Pittman. Those two year contracts could really hurt us. AND no relegation release clause...just shows what a joke of a club we are.

No Guildford Gull I was not at the Hampton and Richmond v Truro game. I was at Plainmoor supporting my team.

So - in reality we only have Reid as a definite ....and that is because he is on contract.

One I would have liked to see on the transfer list.

No I wasn't..... in a very 'busy 'week my chosen live games have been Chelsea V Arsenal (FAYC final) last night ~ which was my second game of the evening after watching my son play at 5pm ~ The return leg on Monday night, Haringey Borough v Heybridge Swifts in the Isthmian North play-off on Wednesday night, Hendon V Folkestone Invicta in the Isthmian Premier play-off on Thurday night and hopefully watching Haringey play in the ILN final next Sunday after watching my younger son trial at Wingate & Finchley on the Saturday morning!

As you see; I watch a a lot of live football and am familair with both Truro and Hampton (who now have to do it all over again on the same ground in the play-offs!) and in the circumstances of this stage of the season would be surprised by your comment; but they are no ATypical of this league in my opinion.

The strange thing about this list though, is that the one person under contract + 6 out of contract players that he wants to keep were all originally signed by predecessors. If all do re-sign then we'd go into next season with the majority of the first team signed by someone else, despite that being so often cited as why Owers has been hampered so far this season.

What Owers is looking to do now is, in effect, keep the core of the squad and add to it, which is exactly what he had to do when he arrived in September. I would say this list (not one Owers signing offered a new deal for next year) is a reflection that he didn't do this at the first time of asking. Let's hope he does better second time around.

ps, Owers also has a 'maybe' list (Jakub Sokolik and Neal Osborn).

Well your hero 'Owers' does not see it your way, Merse. Offer of re-engagement for Young. You can start pulling your hair out now Merse because he has also offered re-engagement to McGinity. Hang on! - three more of Owers predecessors signings are being offered re-engagement Davis, Keating, and Dorel. Plus Reid on contract although Owers did convert his terms into a contract.

So how many of the Owers 22 plus signings is he offering terms too - Williams and ...

Is that it - one! a player his predecessor released

Tell you what this Owers really is one hell of a 'recruitment specialist'. Spent weeks working this one out - must have learnt his time-keeping from Harrop.
