Neal was Truro's best player and would be a good addition to our squad for next season along with Truro's keeper, Jo Woolcott, who I understand is on loan from Bristol City and made a stunning one hand save in the closing stages to secure a point.

The standard was pretty average but that opinion is based on one game.

I thought relegation release clauses only worked in favour of the player. The player could insist on being released from his contract with a relegated club if another club offered him a deal. what clubs usually do is put in a pay cut clause in the event of relegation.
No body is going to offer those three another contract, so they are just going to be paid for nothing. Osborne could however pay the contracts up, he has the money.

Yes, agree with the retained list although I don't think many will stay!! Sokolik is rated by the Plymouh fans I know but not sure what has happened to him this year. Reid is bad and should be transfer listed! What happened to Gosling this season? Osbourne as sub for Dorell will work in NLS. Gowling/ Pittman disappointing! Healy way too good for us!! I like Williams and think he may score goals in NLS. Will be interesting to see who Owers manages to ' persuade' to sign. Nico lost his job after 4 games last season so let's see what happens if the same happens next season!!! I for one think mid table at best!!

Tell you what this Owers really is one hell of a 'recruitment specialist'. Spent weeks working this one out - must have learnt his time-keeping from Harrop.

Signing players close season is completely different to picking up the dross available once the season has started. Let's judge him come August shall we?

No one can deny he walked in to a shit storm.

I am neither for or against Owers but believe he should be judged on his own squad put together in a close season. This relegation is the culmination of years of mismanagement.....ask Sunderland

Whilst agreeing that this relegation is the culmination of years of mismanagement, I have made it very clear his points from games ratio has been unacceptable ~ does that equate to 'hero worship'?

Your opinion coincides with mine, in that we are going to see a lot of NLS teams next season use the 'long-ball' tactic. It is no surprise to me that Truro played 60 minutes of 'hoof-ball'. My view is not a direct dig at the NSL teams per se but rather the 'long ball' at NLS level is seen by many teams as effective, particularly for teams of lesser technical ability. But the issue as a supporter is it makes for deadly dull viewing.

Merse appears to think that today, 'long ball' is largely considered a tactic from a bygone era, one that doesn’t mesh with the cosmopolitan age of the NLS. While I appreciate Merse is a connoisseur of non-league football - I nonetheless disagree with him on this point. The NLS games I have seen and I have see a fair few of them, do rely, in my opinion, on 'long ball' tactics for a higher percentage of the game than one would like to watch.

The retaining list is that most people would have gone for I'd guess.

By transfer listed I'd guess its as much an invite to look for alternative employment as much as open to offers from other clubs?
A signal maybe we may be prepared to assist that process a bit?

Bit surprised about Keating. The guy has had a poor year. Depends on the financial offer tabled I suppose.

Also I worry a tad re Williams. He seems to work even less than last year and has he lost his scoring knack. ?

I don't think Williams has lost his knack, I think there's a general lack of creativity so our strikers have to fashion their own chances and that's been another big failing of ours this season. Looking at his substitution today though and the way he clapped all three sides of the home support, I would say he's fairly certain he can do better than NLS and won't be back.

Keating is a trier but I'm afraid I see very little esle in him. He reminds me of a modern day Dean Edwards (sorry for swearing). He runs around a lot but doesn't do much else.

When Williams left for Bromley last year, I clearly remember someone saying he was a journeyman on an ever downward spiral and would most likely be playing in National league south next year.
