Both are very good signings, lets remember the two we had from Bristol City last season, would we have them back if they were available , damn right we would, both those loans have something our current team do not, Pace, genuine Pace, and as for the comment of lack of crosses into the box, well I
unfortunately have watched the last four matches and when the crosses were sailing into the box, Williams was invariably ambling towards the box and would have got there eventually and Reid was off in his own little world somewhere , usually the opposite side of the box to where the ball would end up.So lets try and be a little positive until these two prove otherwise

I've just posted the same . For once we're in agreement

I am worried by Owers' lack of conviction but at the same time pleased with his pragmatism.
He set his stall out early to play 3-5-2 but then brought in Banton & Bawling and started the season with only three centre-halves plus Gowling. Quite what that was all about I don't know - it seems like he wanted to play with a back three but didn't really think it would work so brought Banton & Bawling in as an insurance policy.
Finally it seems to have twigged that we don't need to be so defensive in this division and that we actually need to create some goal scoring opportunities to win games! It's no surprise when in most games so far Davis has been the only player in the starting line-up likely to create a goal that we have not scored many.
Here's hoping that these two new lads and the change in tactics that appears to be around the corner will be just what our strikers need to start filling the ol' onion bag!
We've got five strikers at the club - all have been courted by bigger teams at different times in their career, all have proven they can score goals at different times in their career, all of whom are pretty much in the last chance saloon as far professional football goes. I'm convinced that they are all more than good enough but they need the team around them to crate the opportunites and they need the belief in themselves.

Are these lads able to take their friendly form against TUFC and produce a similar or better performance, in a team setup and managed by GO? We shall see very shortly.
Life is like TUFC. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory.

Watched them in training today.
Jake Andrews set piece specialist. Opi Edwards pace to burn.
Exactly the two players we liked the most in the PSF and we have got them in on loan.
Astute signings. Changed my mind and am definitely going to Plainmoor tomorrow. COYY.

Two good temporary acquisitions based on their performances in the pre season friendly against us.
However, to bring youngsters in at the moment following the abject performance against Hampton and Richmond (the worst in 50 years imo) is risky with the pressure for a win today.
The missing ingredients for the team is leaders and confidence on the pitch, and we have sent our only leader to Alfreton who have won 3 on the trot a coincidence perhaps!!! I am not there today but was planning to go next week but that decision is in the balance after the H&R performance and the retention of GO who appears totally unable to motivate.
I am wondering if i ever want to go back. A truly sad state of affairs.

Gowling is our only leader? - Jesus what are you on.
That said Wiggy could make an unlikely return to the team when his loan is up as we are a central defender short and Wiggy has been getting games.
I too hope to be there next Saturday but that very much depends on todays result.

Good posting JimHart you have obviously seen Gowling play more times than Brucie !
Defence is not our problem at the moment though
is it. Agree the service to the strikers has not been
good enough but they also have to make things
happen themselves , more movement, intelligent runs, harrying defenders into mistakes gambling on near post crosses etc etc, something Williams doesn't do, Keating would be a very good striker with an equally hard working partner. Although
Reid works hard as we all know he is not a finisher

Remembering that Andrews and Edwards are nearly through a one month loan, I hope one of GJ's first tasks will be to chat to Johnson junior about an extension. Maybe GJ can get the best out of them.
Not if he plays him as a left winger he won't......
