There is much optimism now among supporters for a good Cup run and promotion. A far cry from a few weeks ago.

Why? A change in management? I would suggest its down to change in managerial motivational style e.g.

Gary Johnson - promotion focused
Gary Ower's - prevention focused

Not sure that a good cup run and promotion go hand in hand.

The focus has got to be on winning the league (the 6 team knockout format of the playoffs is too much of a lottery) and a cup run can be a big distraction. We should win at Lymington and pocket the prize money but after that it will depend on the luck of the draw and whether we play our regular first teamers in cup ties or not. Not sure if Woking are the biggest threat for the title or are there some dark horses like Hampton and Richmond?

Gary Johnson comes over as a happy little chappy with a bubbly personality and a half full glass. Gary Owers's personality was due to arrive later and his glass seemed to be half empty most of the time. Their different approaches to life are reflected in the way they prepare teams for matches and even if we don't get promoted at least we will be entertained.

Hampton & Richmond are Woking are a nearby to where I currently reside. I have seen both play this season (albeit just once). Whilst, they are in good form, I was not particularly impressed with them. There is no reason why, TQ cannot go on a good run and move up the table.
Time will tell, but after the Hungerford performance, and the feel-good factor from our new, charismatic and well connected manager, it is time for positivity from us all.......

And us! Were it not for Buckle's funny five minutes in selecting the play-off team against Exteter we could have lost the play-off final as well as the Trophy final that year!

Some supporters think that a cup run will distract from out league title ambitions but that is surely misguided. We have not run an FA Cup game since 2011 and it has not exactly helped team morale. A decent cup run will be brilliant for confidence and eventually a chance to play some decent teams. The trophy competition might not be worth it but this is. It will good to see us on the BBC website live for everyone to view.

A decent cup run will bring in some decent prize money too don't forget!!! Make the first round proper is £25K. Not to be sniffed at by Torquay United!!!

Actually if we make the draw for the first round proper we would have pocketed £45,000 (well actually at least £46k actually as we know we get £1k from the beeb for streaming our game Saturday). And that’s before we take into account our share of gate receipts - won’t get much from Saturday I imagine but if we’re drawn at home in the next round to a local team we could see a few thousand turn up. That would have a not insignificant impact on the playing budget I suspect.
