Jake Andrews and Opi Edwards
Let's hope Gary Johnson can extend the loan on these two useful looking players. As been said Jake Andrews is not a winger and should be put where he can dictate a game. With Opi Edwards it stands out a mile to give him the ball as often as possible and get him taking on the full back on the outside. He has blistering pace and could cause havoc, but he has got to be given the confidence to do so.

It is almost certain that these two will extend their stay, assuming that Gary Johnson wants them. They started well, but were very ineffective last week, probably due to managerial tactics. Expect more loans from Bristol City, maybe Cheltenham and Yeovil too.....

Anyone know exactly how long Jake Andrews loan extention is actually for? The OS isn't very clear, as usual. Who writes these articles?
They mention his birthday, which is 14th October. Then go on to say and probably for a bit longer. A different type of loan would have to start after his 21st birthday. But am guessing you don’t lodge those to commence until the expiry of the youth loan. Am guessing we’ll hear more after the Eastbourne game on 13th October.Willowgull wrote: ↑05 Oct 2018, 21:30 Anyone know exactly how long Jake Andrews loan extention is actually for? Thanks for that. So we will just have to wait and see what happens after his birthday. Anyway, it's great news it's being extended. Also, the promise of a new player or two next week. Hopefully GJ's brother has someone in mind already. Maybe a right back and a winger? It seams that things are starting to turn around very quickly.
Disagree with you about them being ineffective. Sure - they were not as dominant as they were in their first game for the Gulls, but last Saturday was against stiffer opposition. I thought both of them did more than okay.

Agree. we should be grateful for having these players on loan, is simply because Owers recruited several dreadful players during the summer. The Johnson family are being very proactive and taking no shit. Loving it.

anyone know the latest with loans for these both? when do they expire? jake andrews was up when he turned 21 which was yesterday....
Who exactly are the "dreadful" players that Owers signed?
You're aware that we got relegated last season from the worst league we've ever been in? SOME of the players he brought in for this season are half decent (at this level), but he also brought in the likes of Callum Evans, Guy Gnabouyou, Reece Mitchell, Rhys Murphy, Alex Davey, Jazzi Barnum-Bobb, Josh McQuoid, Jennison Myrie-Williams, Tommy O'Sullivan, Conrad Balatoni and Jakub Sokolik. Some people will try to argue that I'm being harsh on some, of those players, but I'd say the vast vast majority of them were dreadful - hence we got relegated...
Actually half the players on that list are decent
I am sure Johnson would have got more out them
than Owers did

Alan Knill could have gotten more out of them than Owers did

You didn't read the question.
Lucy says that the reason that we have the Bristol City loanees is because Owers recruited "several dreadful players in the summer".
None of the players you mentioned were recruited in the summer.

We've not got value for money for Bawling, Banton or Wright. Regis has quickly been bombed out as well. The 4 loan players have pretty much replaced them - 2 on the wing, one central midfielder and a striker.
I would agree though that recruitment in the summer was pretty good overall. Not even those four are bad players for this level. But we only scored in 3 of his 9 games and having already been relegated, he lost the support of the fans and had to go. Gary Johnson has given the club a huge lift in his month in charge, and brought an immediate improvement to the players he inherited.
Owers arrived, said the squad was unfit and he would make them professional. One year later he hadn't improved anything, results were even worse, we had been relegated and fans were in revolt. Johnson arrived, made a point of refusing to criticise the previous manager, and has seen a massive, immediate improvement on the pitch. Quite a striking difference.
