Loanees v Other Players?

Regarding the position of if we can or can't retain the loanee players till the end of the season and if not would it affect our success, personally I think initially we would suffer for a few games but with the current manager in place things would soon settle down and we'd be up and running again.What do others think?

Don't think any of us needs to be an expert in football to see the positive impact the young loanees from Bristol City are having, my opinion which I've expressed is we are being propped up by these players right now, however that doesn't concern me to much as fan, because of Gary Johnson, he's more than well aware of the situation.

There will be a weekly contact between our club and Bristol City, GJ will know how long we'll be able to keep these players, and as he's said, his brother is out there scouting, and there looking for players who can effect the game in the league above, that's going to take time. We have to remember (stating the obvious) we're NLS, Bristol City are a Championship club, and the collective age of these players who are very young.

Bristol City are not going to be looking at this, saying, look at how those lads are playing at TUFC quick lets get them back and put them in our first team, apart from Connor Evans who's stands out like a saw thumb is probably the best player in this league right now, so City may not want to commit to leaving him down here for the rest of season, Janneh, Edwards and Andrews are getting senior football improving by the game, especially Janneh it's a win, win all around, can't see a reason why they wouldn't want to leave those lads down here long term.

Hopefully due to the success GJ is achieving it will naturally attract quality players looking to get a promotion on their CV.

Torquay would really miss Connor Evans if we lost him sometime this season. He looks so much stronger than last season and is very difficult to get off the ball. Let's hope he stays until May and then goes on to higher achievements next year.

Am with forevertufc on this. We should enjoy Evans (22 in January) while we have him as in January when his loan is up both Bristol City and Wales will want to see him slightly higher up the pyramid. Think we were very lucky to get him this time around.

Andrews (recently turned 21) we have a reasonable chance of keeping. Teenagers Edwards and Janneh, I’d say we have a very good chance of keeping.

That's a good summary from Forever. The four players we have from Bristol City probably are a class above the rest of the squad in overall terms - which is no slur on them, we have a very good squad as a whole, but the loanees have made a difference. With all the squad fit, they'd probably make up 4 of the 6 starters in midfield and up front - so as a group they'd be a huge loss. We have players like Kalala, Hall, Dickson & Reid who could also easily start and not reduce the quality though, so as long as GJ stays on top of things, we have the squad to maintain this current run of form.

Ideally we would keep all four for the full season, but if we can't do that, then as long as we know in advance when they're going to be leaving, we can be prepared. The 2-3 new signings we're meant to be chasing, but aren't in a rush for, is another opportunity to improve the overall quality of the squad.
