We won and that is all to say save that a half decent side would have torn us apart in the second half (but they weren't).

Sounded like we controlled the game and a late goal gave them a bit of hope at the end.

That's the third game in a row that we have won on heavy pitches with precious little of anything on the bench. Today we were missing Dickson, Edwards, Keating and Evans.

Put those 4 into the squad and things look entirely different. The return of a fresh Evans and Keating on New Years Day is going to make a massive difference.
Controlled the game, but could only muster two goals, an oggy and a goal from our centre back!?? Commo’s were saying throughout the game we weren’t at our best and it sounded like it was a pretty spirited fight back from them towards the end. People I have spoken to have told a similar story too.

If anything, it’s a sign of just how well we’ve been performing recently and just how important it is that we can win ugly, as well as comfortably.

How many times have we matched the league leaders & ended up losing in the past ? & then try to work out how they were top of the pile ?
There's a reason we're top & it ain't because we're blowing everyone away week in week out, league champions seldom do.

Just listened to GJ's assessment on Radio Devon. In so many words, he stated that the players were down in the dressing room knowing that they hadn't performed. It's good that they've already put their collective hands up and will sit down in the next couple of days to review things.

We missed Evans today and there were players out of position etc...
The good news is that Evans will be back next game and Keating.
Hall had poor game by his standard and we really missed the incisive pass
from midfield to our strikers feet that Evans does so well.

Disappointing second half- should have had more goals but looked very lethargic.
Need to be better on Tuesday

Top of the league, run of 8 league wins and 3 point in the bag today. I''ll take that! Sometimes you just have to accept a below-par performance. Today the players weren’t on it and Gloucester can be thankful we weren’t at the races as we made them look half decent when in reality they were dire. No surprise to me that their consolation goal was only their 16th of the season. Today's display may work in our favour as a wake up call to our players for the New Years Truro match. Bonus will be having Evan's (sorely missed today) Keating and Edwards back in contention.

Disappointing game but 3 points are 3 points! Not sure what's wrong with Reidy he doesn't seem to be getting on anything at the moment. Plenty of effort and movement but doesn't seem to get himself into the position he was earlier on. Onwards and upwards a nice 0-5 on New Years Day will restore order to plainmoor!

Chris Todd sent his players out in the second half to press us and it unsettled us. Garry Johnson altered a few players positional and we lost momentum. It's three points but could so easily have been thrown away. Two disallowed goals one for each side brought the game alive the last few minutes. We missed Conner Evans.

We pretty much dominated the first half and at half time I anticipated a 4-0 win.

However in the second half we played some good football but kept failing to find the right final pass.Had the final ball been on the button we could have doubled our lead and should have done so.

Gloucester did improve in the 2nd half and when they scored in the 88th minute it made for a very nervy finish.

Tyler Harvey scored all 4 goals for Truro today so we will need to mark him carefully on New Years Day.

We are 10 points ahead of 4th team in NLS tonight but only 2 ahead of Woking who still have 2 games in hand.

A very strange game, we were at it from minute one as opposed to the Truro game when we did not turn up for the first twenty minutes, ,we were short of a few players, but at this time of the year all teams will be under the same pressures due to injury and suspensions, certainly second half Gloucester won every second ball and our strategy seemed to be to sit off them and catch them on the break. I have seen us play better than today and lose so should be grateful for the points. It will be interesting to see who Johnson brings in during the transfer window.

8 games 8 wins will set new club record if we win on the 1st Jan. Seems like they were below par today! But who cares 3 points in the bag, the gap widening between the 3rd place, Come on who really thought we would be in this position a few months ago? GJ as not only transformed this club in such a short space of time but he has transformed our expectations. We are now in the position that we all hoped we would be at the beginning of the season but never really believed would be! We are in dreamland I cannot believe 8 league games 8 wins. Cannot wait for my yearly visit, Might actually see Torquay win for the first time in years.
Happy New Year to every one! Come on Torquay, Say we are top of the league say we are top of the league!

We had the chances but couldn't get that third goal and Gloucester improved and grew in confidence but we certainly weren't quite at it today. Gary Johnson clearly doesn't rate Samir Nabi as he played Sendles-White in midfield who looked like a fish out of water, thankfully moved him to right back in the second half.. I really don't think that pitch is helping our game, might explain Kalalas stand clearing effort among others. It's a real shame but that Welling game seems to have wrecked the top surface. As it dries out more this week it will get stickier and more bobbly. We will probably get better pitches away from home now which didn't seem likely a few weeks ago. Reidy needs a goal, not scored for 5 games now but I am sure it will come

We didn't play well but deserved the win and missed some good chances to make it a more convincing score line. Midfield seemed to sit back and we played a lot of long balls in the first half, but often had a player offside. We're not going to win every game with ease, but it's the winning that's important.
What a dive from their number 11 to con the ref for a free kick.
