The Bruce Stuckey chant consisted on one word: Bruce.
BUT!!
It started loudly: BRUCE! and then entered a diminuendo, thus: Bruce! bruce! bruce! bruce! bruce! bruce! [the name was usually repeated seven times] The chant gathered speed as it continued but petered out as the chanters ran out of breath.

The Willie |Brown chant was more ambitious than the Stubbs/Stuckey chants. It was sung, although there was only one note to the song, which went like this:
Oh! Willie, Willie!
Willie, Willie, Willie, Willie, Willie Brown!
Oh! Willie, Willie!
Willie, Willie, Willie, Willie, Willie Brown!

I remember using the same song for Bruce Rioch when he was lining up one of his thunderbolt free-kicks, Christ he could hit a ball beautifully.wivelgull wrote: ↑01 Mar 2019, 21:03 The Bruce Stuckey chant consisted on one word: Bruce.

God I miss those days....
“You’re going home in a f’n ambulance” very 70s 80s! Never meant it of course but all good fun!
Our Chelsea connections always meant we sang "One man went to mow", "Celery" and "I'm going out with the girl next door" on the Pop side.
Many years ago, I seem to recall Molly Malone being sung on the Torquay terraces. Can anyone else remember this?

There hasn't been much chance to sing that in recent seasons...……...until now !!
One aspect of songs / chants that i always found a very personal thing to TUFC and something that really set us apart and backed our players was the fact that just about every player had a mini chant about them individually and when they ran out onto the pitch before a game we used to go through the side and often get acknowledgement from those players.
I feel it's important for each player to have their own song and to recognize each player. I've not ever seen any other football club fans sing songs for each individual before a game (and during) and that did make me proud to be a supporter back then.
Songs like
der der der - Danny Stevens
super Rene Howe, Rene Howe - Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuper Rene Howe! Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah
Nicholson! Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiicholson! Nicholson! Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiicholson!
Martin Gritton is a yellow goal machine, yellow goal machine, yellow goal machine. (my fave actually)
Lee Lee - Lee Mansell (also used for Canoville)
Karl Hawley, Hawley Hawley Hawley (although he didn't deserve a song as he was absolute dogshite).
We've got the boy from up the road Benyon, Benyon.
Oastler had one but can't remember it.
Saah! Saah will tear you apart - again. Saah!
We love you Reuben! (Reuben Hazell)
and many more
I just think each player should have a little tune about him that fans can bang out in appreciation.

The 'one man went to mow' chant always perplexed me. This was not because it was often used as a song of abuse (for example, against the then Crawley manager Steve ?????) but because the one man didn't go to mow a meadow - he went to mow a city!
