Distant Bums it was - sung to the away fans!

I hear the sound, of distant bums... over there, over there
And do they smell, like f***in hell,
Over there, over there.

One from the 80's if the games at nil nil.

Know we are singing please give us a goal. A goal (over and over and over again to we score)

And near to Christmas three is this one,

There only a poor little ........... (Who ever we are playing on the day)
There kit is all tatted and torn,
Thay started to sing,
So we hit them with a goal
And know thay don't sing any more.

When disagreeing with a decision:-
How's your father,
How's your father referee,
You haven't got one
You never had one
You're a BASTARD, referee.

Seems rather apt this season!

I also recall an alternative version of the Willie Brown chant

Oh! Willie, Willie!
Willie, Willie, Willie, Willie ever score!

Rather unkind I thought, as he was a real fans favourite.
He scored one of the finest goals I have ever seen, whilst running at top sprint, he hit a bullet volley from 30 yards into the top corner. Mini Stand went wild only to see it disallowed for off-side!!
Another magic Plainmoor moment firmly fixed in my memory

I also remember Mollie Malone being sung in the late 70’s.
There used to be a large bearded gent in a white coat, walking around the perimeter of the Saturday night 7.30 kick offs, selling Seafood from a basket. Cockles, mussels and prawns etc.
On reaching the Mini Stand the Mollie Malone chant rang out.
However the last line “singing cockles and mussels alive, alive O” —
Was replaced with “singing TU, TUF, TUFC Torquay”
Happy times!

I remember one audacious goal, he was near the half way line on the pop side, the ball was three foot above him at least, he just reached up, pulled it down, and went on to score in front of the mini stand. I think the only people in the ground who didn't see the blatant handball were the ref and his linesmen. I can't remember the opposition though.

Used to remember supporters chanting something jovial about the fact Willie Brown couldn't turn.

Mr Grockle's memory is spot-on. I was there and it was just as he said. I thought he brought down the ball in the box, but as we old codgers know, memory plays tricks - and how!

I remember this one still being sung in the early to mid 2000s.

Agree with whoever it was that said they miss each players having a song, was always great doing the rounds just before kickoff. Last few times I've been at Plainmoor the songs have seemed a little 'samey'.

Don't worry about a thing,
Cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin: don't worry about a thing,
Cause every little thing gonna be all right!

Woke up this mornin,
Smiled with the risin sun,
Three little birds
Sat by my doorstep
Singin sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin, (this is my message to you-ou-ou:)
