Torquay United v Harrogate Town 7/9/19

Post by lucy6lucy »

Is this the first ever league match against Harrogate? I remember them beating us in the fa cup. After a good away point on Tuesday surely we can be encouraged that the lads can get all 3 this Saturday. Did Harrogate over achieve last season, because they haven’t set the world a light so far. 3 points will put us back in the mix COYY, however I’m going 2-2

Yes first league game against them, we played 3 cup games . 1 win 1 lose 1 draw all like 1 goal games. Torquay United spirits have been lifted against a good team on Tuesday just gone so we should do well against on paper a least a smaller team but we are still in the toddler stage of this season so expect a hiccup or two followed by drama.....3-0 us or 1-1

Time to stop planting seeds of doubt in the players minds and showing opposition too much respect. Sat see's us take on Harrogate who still relive a famous FA cup win in 2012. Famous because they beat 'The Gulls". I don't think Harrogate overachieved last season they have been building a sustainable infrastructure over the last 3 season to get where they are. They are very much in the mould of Hartlepool, not special but have a big, strong squad of seasoned 'journeymen' who will frustrate and nick a goal if you allow them the opportunity. We must continue with Johnson 'magic' formula of high possession, high press and outpace them. Yes, we do at times leave ourselves open to the counter- attack through playing so expansively but that's a risk you take if you want success and entertainment.

We have had our fair share of silly hiccups this season but nothing in the mould of our 'Coffee-Gate' season. With the recent signing upping the ante for places I expect the players to show their full potential this Sat and the team to play a blinder and for this reason I'm going with a 3-0 win to us.

Considering how many knocks we took Tuesday night I'm sure one or two wont make it and with Edwards already injured could be a different midfield starting tomorrow. Hopefully Duku and Reid will start together as Harrogate are similar to Hartlepool size wise.

I’d start the same line up as we did against Woking, I’d bring in Whitfield & Kalala for the players in doubt Evans & Little. and move Andrew’s into Central.

If against all odds they’re fit I’d start Whitfield over Kalala.

The injuries are a slight worry, but a win here would be huge. This is the 10th game of the season and a win would see us with 4 wins, 3 draws and 3 loses and probably just outside the play-offs (and a possible chance to sneak into the last play-off position, depending on the results). I think this is a good representation of where we will be by the end of the season.

Looks like the midfield could be overrun, unless the inclusion of Cundy is to negate it.
