Right I'll ask the question to all of you GJ doubters ( who not 6 months ago were fawning at his feet ) which the **** is there out there better qualified to take on his job ?
Ffs give the man some time, some if you are so short sighted its embarrassing.
Just changing the manager is not going to resolve our injury crisis is it.
We have the opportunity to resolve squad issues now & GJ has said he will, so get behind him & thank your lucky stars we have a manager with the stature & proven record at this level currently at our club , so be warned we'll all miss him when hes gone mark my words.

Agree with every word - just hope that Gary himself doesn't read the negative stuff on this ridiculous thread.

Someone else with a short memory. Liam Davis was missing at the beginning of the season and Frank Vincent was drafted in at left back - remember? Although he did okay, he is not a left back and no replacement for Davis. Maybe you could argue that GJ should have brought in a left back as back up. 'We have not played well all season' ......... er, weren't we within two points of being top of the league before losing key players such as Davis, Little, Lemonheigh-Evans, Vincent?

If I was putting a plan together it would involve somebody half the current managers age who is chomping at the bit to utilise his new coaching qualifications and exploit his lower league contacts. What people need to remember is that Torquay United is a club with huge potential. We should stop thinking that we cannot get anyone to work for us but instead concentrate on the fact that to manage our club would be a huge honour and opportunity. If we can sell football shirts to our own fans for£20 more than they’re worth I’m sure we can sell the chance to kick-start somebody’s career for a sensible wage.
Top of the league and impressive with it; Barrow manager’s cv reads as follows: caretaker manager for Chesterfield’s last 3 games when they were relegated out of the football league. There will be plenty more like him out there just waiting to prove themselves.
The alternative it seems is put on my rose tinted glasses and bury my head on one of Torquay’s fabulous sandy beaches!

I am all for different opinions but given the title of this thread the least I would expect would be for the 'managerial moaners' to corroborate their opinion with a 'named' replacement instead of 'going round the houses'.

Mellow Yellow, it's me, schizophrenic Dawlish Muttface. I posted ages ago that Paul Tisdale would be an ideal replacement for Gary Johnson. He was sacked by MK Dons in November.

May be it's time for some new coaching staff as we seem to pick up so many injuries, and as I have said many times the goalkeeper coach needs to go, I watched cavagnari warm up before the Woking game and alls the coach got him to do were long kicks out of the box and he did some balls in to the box, this does not help get a keeper in to the zone or his reflexes warmed up, time for change in that department, as for GJ he is the best one for the job, who else is out there and to keep changing managers is not good if Man U sacked old scots man in his early days would thay have gone on to do what thay did ? It's wrong managers geting sacked if players don't perform ( imagine in are work places we could do that, we would have a new manager every week) if players don't want to perform then thay should be sacked with out pay and a bad reference for there next job so other teams are aware thay may be getting a player who doesn't remember how lucky thay are to be playing every boy and girls dream.

Alex Ferguson eh? Joined St Mirren whilst they were struggling in the Scottish 2nd division after an unremarkable year with East Stiling. He was 33 at the time. Within 3 years StMirren were Scottish first division champions with a team average age below 20! I bet in 1974 the fans of St Mirren would not have given Ferguson a second thought. The owners of the club however must have looked beyond the usual uninspiring names that were being touted at the time. They researched and (I guess) interviewed Ferguson and other equally less known candidates, some of which they may not even have known, and subsequently appointed a future legend!

What has Alex Ferguson got to do with TUFC?? We are not St Mirren and the last time I looked it isn't 1974. If your looking for the next wonder manager who is 33 years old and going to take TUFC up a couple of divisions, good luck with that hopefully he doesn't have a bad run of results on the way to stardom your want an experienced manager at the helm them. Some posters on here really are something.

Oh Matt my dear boy, I'm wondering what you had in your latest cup of tea :rofl: Don't want this going off on a political tangent really but the best comparison I can come up with is.

When you have a football club managed by a competent chairman and board of directors they don't sack their first team manager after every poor 10 game run of form, as some of our recently joined forum members would like, and if the need to replace their manager does arise, they don't just fire first, and wonder what to do afterwards, they have a plan in place.

Bit like the situation with our country's withdrawal from the EU. see dodgy Dave technically goofed up when he gave the overwhelming majority of the UK population who had given so many indications they wanted to leave the EU and chance to vote on it, in a referendum, so he did a runner.

We could have had a competent prime minister and cabinet who would have first laid down a plan, gone to the EU (no if's no but's) see what I did there, and the UK would have left on 29th March 2019 as it could have, and should have, but we ended up with good old Mrs May, see there's another comparison here, she like Kevin Nicholson thoroughly decent people but so far out of their respective depths they couldn't do the jobs they were employed to do at the said times.

As a general point.

So it's perfectly fine for some to say, lets go out and find some young upcoming coach to take over at TUFC in the hope we stumble on the next Danny Cowley, but in Nicho, and Chris Hargreaves we've been down that road, both were hopeless as managers.

Thank you forevertufc. courteous and sensible responses last The best season I had following the mighty gulls was without doubt whilst Leroy was in charge in our promotion year. Naivety was rife but the entertainment and results will be hard to beat. If we hadn’t managed to snatch relegation away from 3 other teams on the last day of the following season I genuinely believe he would have continued improving us. This is what I want to see again at Plainmoor and unfortunately I don’t think GJ is the person to achieve this. How about Liam Rosenior? Currently coaching at Derby I think.
