This is all getting rather tiresome. More virtue signalling and attention seeking. I've often wondered if the B group in the LBGTQ bandwagon didn't get the memo on how many genders there are supposed to be these days.

How is this getting tiresome? As you and everyone else knows, there is certainly still a stigma in football and the wider world with which the LGBTQ+ community is viewed and this article as well as all the others is attempting to remove this.
The second half of your comment is frankly ridiculous and bigoted: the group is not a bandwagon, there are and have always been LGBTQ+ people, they are certainly not attention seeking - for starters, why would anyone risk discrimination and abuse just to get attention? Your comment on bi people not getting the memo isn't funny and is uninformed; bi people like any two genders but it doesn't have to be the traditional ones and for those that like more they are pansexual.
I would have liked to think that should a TUFC player come out they would be supported whole heartedly but your comments don't fill me with confidence...

I must admit, I was disappointed that he didn't finish the piece with "I'm the only gay in the Popside". Actually, he might not be, but I'm not sure if my mate still goes or where he stands/sits.

It is a bandwagon, the latest cause de jour. In 20 years time, or less, society will look back on this with complete bafflement. 95% of people, including me, couldn't care less what lifestyle you choose. So what! As long as you're not interfering with my lifestyle, no problem. A TUFC player did come out as Gay, Justin Fashunu, and we loved him for his football. Especially his goal v West Brom after he took dogs abuse from their fans. When he scored, he dove into the Popside and was swamped with adoration.

Of course, there are a small minority of prats, just as there are a small minority of LBGTQ. The majority of us would rather you got on with your lives and left us out of it, none of our business who you care to love. As a TUFC fan, of whatever persuasion, you get enough pain and we all suffer together regardless.

To Davethegull2… your second reply was a whole lot better. However, bandwagons are what create change.

if the internet had been around in years past, these exact phrases would have been used to describe the civil rights movement. And I hope that in 20 years time (or less!) society will indeed look back on it with 'complete bafflement'. That's what happens when you get societal change. It wasn't that long ago that women weren't allowed to vote, or own property, or indeed were expected to be married off by the time they were 20.

Just because you personally don't need to be educated on gay rights, it doesn't mean that this sort of post isn't worthy. Your comment about a 'small minority of prats' is interesting too because the further back you go, the larger that 'small minority' becomes, to the extend that even when I was at school, being called 'gay' was considered a hilarious insult because apparently being gay made you lesser, somehow.

I mean, if you feel like this post isn't really for you, or wouldn't do you any good, don't read it. That's allowed. But I don't really see why there was a need to decry its existence in the first place.
