Torquay United v Tonbridge Angels, Sat 2nd Dec, 3pm
Never in a million years did I ever think I'd be posting online about a league match between Torquay and Tonbridge. Yes, we've played each other before in the FA Cup a year or two back... but that could have happened at any time. However, when I first moved up to Kent in the early 90s and started watching the Angels, they were playing in the Kent League against the likes of Herne Bay et al.... Torquay were in League One... nah, it'll never happen, they're leagues apart, Torquay would never drop so low, and the Angels never get so high. This is why I'm crap at predictions!
It'll be the Angels' first ever visit to Plainmoor and from what I can gather quite a few are making the trip down to the English Riviera.... no, not the hundreds and hundreds that Yeovil would bring but a decent few as, from experience of following the Angels away myself, they do have a very loyal following home and away (home crowds are c.1k this season, which for this level is bloody good).
Angels currently sit 4th in the away form guide having won their last 3 on the road, the latest being a 3-0 win at last Tuesday's opponents Eastbourne.
Going to be a tough one, but if we play like we did on Tuesday and not the way we didn't play last Saturday, then I think Utd should be too much for the Angels.
So, here we go...
Torquay United 3 Tonbridge Angels 1

A lot will depend on whether or not Tom Lapslie plays - 2-1 to the Gulls if he does.

I'd expect a few more than that Rio... a 32-seater coach has already been filled*, plus those who travel down via car/train/tandem etcRio Doherty wrote: ↑30 Nov 2023, 14:14 Score - Torquay United 2-1 Tonbridge Angels.

* doesn't sound many, but this is the first time for many a season that the Angels have had the coach travel option

Fair enough - my knowledge of Tonbridge Angels’ away support obviously isn’t as good as yours . Always have respect for supporters who take out their time to follow their teams on such long journeys like that. I clocked up 1,281 miles this month following my club Chester FC!! We had six away games in a row - never known anything quite like it.

Nobody else like him in the midfield, would be a massive loss
Yes gone. Confirmed.
