I wonder if Taunton have had a sudden injection of cash. Yesterday they signed Tom Smith, a very good player who was at Bath for the last 7 years. Odd move for him in my opinion. He should have been going up a level and not down one.

May have been mentioned elsewhere - it would appear that the national league next season will allow 7 named subs, with 5 changes allowed. Does this apply to north/south divisions too?

No, it's just for the Step 1 (National League) clubs it seems.

Thoughts on Ed Palmers signing?

A decent player but are we really building a squad that can challenge for.promotion? I guess they are all hungry players and maybe that's just what we need after the last lot?

as ever, brucie, you cut straight to the heart of the matter with your well thought-out and balanced reasoning.

I, for one, am very pleased that you've been able to deliver this particular insight.

So you think that the likes of Palmer are going to get us promotion? - 32 years old and spent all of his career playing for the likes of Bideford, Barnstaple, Taunton, Truro etc etc.

I note that Maidstone have just signed Aaron Blair from promotion winners Braintree. 31 goals in 90 games for Braintree and scored for them in their play final win against Worthing. Now that might be the sort of signing that excited me.

Personally think that some of our signings have been underwhelming - if we are to be promotion contenders we are going to need another striker who isnt a complete unknown. We need a couple of impressive loan signings as well.
