Fave ads

Post by westbaygull »

I just need to post this to perk up a wee chumlette

and it got me wondering, what are the all time great ads? I was always fond of the 'watch out, watch out, there's a Humphrey about...' ones back in the day (sucks on pipe...) and more recently the Carlsberg ones. Not that they made me buy milk (ewww) or lager.

Anyone have childhood memories of, um, advertising...?

I used to think the child safety videos were hilarious.

"MRAOW MRAOW MRAOW"
"My cat Charlie says you shouldn't talk to strangers"

and then the kid would give the cat a fish and he'd regurgitate a fishy skeleton. Haha!

On a sort of related theme - the bicycle safety video.

#Make it bold, make it bright# etc etc.

Guaranteed to get you beaten up at school if anybody ever heard you hum it.

I loved all these Peter Kay ads, but unfortunately, couldn't remember which product he was advertising. Perhaps I'm just not very open to advertising... :O

There was a Dairylea ad that had me in stitches a few years back, it wasn't about very long. It could've been because the slogan was unintentionally pure filth. Or at least it was if your mind occasionally occupies the gutter.

Anyone seen the new Peter Kay one, where he's at the Antiques Roadshow? It's as brilliant as the other lot. John Smith's, i shall remember it now!
