Well, there you go, this just about sums up TUFC at present.
What a crock of shit. What the hell do the staff at Plainmoor do all day? Feck it, let me do it, I'll do it for nothing, I'll bloody talk to the players and see if we can't get them to come here. There is no way that everyone else in L2 pays so much more than we do that we simply cannot entice anyone down here.
How bloody hard is it to call him up, tell him to be at the ground for 1100 last Thursday, with his negotiating cap on and a pen in his pocket. He sits down with the chairman and a negotiator and they thrash out a deal. If they can't agree terms, then let him leave. Don't just fecking ignore the poor bastard. Like him or not, he scored a bunch of goals for us last year, and he played pretty well most of the time. We're Torquay, we're not going to get anyone any better than Robinson to come down here.
This started as a bad joke, but is now getting worse and worse. It's coming to something when he would rather go to a club which didn't win in 3714 attempts last year, scored one goal and finished virtually bottom, than stay with the team which lost in the playoff final to the team who WILL finish bottom of L1 next year.
Matt.

I doubt any players will negotiate seriously with us until we have a manager. And if players such as Stanley and Robinson would prefer to sign on elsewhere rather than wait to see if there is to be an offer on the table from us, it's probably because a) they didn't even want to come back, or b) they were confident (having already been made aware of our limitations?) that the kind of package they've been offered is beyond us.

Or, they've spent the last 3/4 weeks not receiving wages, have no guarantees that they will be getting a contract here and need to pay their bills.Fonda wrote:I doubt any players will negotiate seriously with us until we have a manager. Earlier this afternoon I signed for Northampton Town and I am delighted to be here. I met Gary Johnson and once we reached a deal I was keen to sign as soon as I could.
Northampton Town is a big club at this level, and once I knew of the club's interest I was keen on a move here. I know last season was disappointing for the club but we have to look forward. The lads finished the season well with two wins, and I am sure we can take that on and match the ambitions of Gary Johnson and the Chairman for this season.
I can't wait for next season to start, and hope you will be at Sixfields to cheer us on!.

That fat cocky b**tard Johnson will ruin his career. Bet he's shipped out on loan in 6 months.

From a Rovers fan (whose club has just stolen Torquays manager), naturally hates any connection with Bristol City (the big club in Bristol) and one who clearly is still riled that after beating NTFC 3-1 at your memorable ground in the 98 play off semis...we hammered you in the second leg!!!
I hear Robinson turned Rovers down...no bitterness then lol....
No bid was made from Rovers. You're basing your evidence on the league 2 rumours who also said Torquay offered a contract (which also wasn't true).
No hatred there at all just basing the assessment on the amount of players he bought to Ashton Gate and kicked out. His success rate for finding a decent player is about 1 in 10. Thought you would have known that, he's been at you for long enough now. Johnsons creativity with transfers force you to resign Fatinfenwa. Ask any City fans about his record at bringing people in. Or Peterborough even.
Haha those distant memories of 98. I remember those games well. Couldn't have been 2 more contrasting games.

Why are you banging on about a match that was 13 years ago? That game didn't do you much favours though did it? As you were relegated the following season. Yeah the pretty passing, flowing football of Holloway's Rovers who ripped you to shreds and you get a lucky goal at the end, against the disgusting, horrible bully boy long hoof ball of Ian Atkins. I know which one everybody would prefer.
Why would Robinson turn down Rovers to join The Cobblers? The fact is Rovers didn' want him because he is not very good. The fact that Rovers will sign a proven golascorer in Jamie Cureton, and are in talks with both Clayton Donaldson and Ashley Grimes who both netted 20+ goals last season is the reason Robinson was not wanted.
Fat dwarf Johnson and you cobblers are welcome to him.

Not overly upset about missing out on him. He did exactly what the Shrewsbury fans said he'd do - start off on fire then go off form. He didn't offer much in the 3 play-off games, and for the money he's on we could spend it better in my opinion. He was open about leaving himself open to offers, so realistically we were never going to sign him permanently anyway.
Can i just say something here, fans of other clubs are welcome on this site and always have been, and despite how others have reacted i have enjoyed having these gasheads around, and do enjoy bantering with fans of all clubs.
My message to the Gasheads and cobbler above, please do remember that this is the main board on the Torquay united fans forum.

But at least this one is slightly on topic. As it is about Jake Robinson.

I have picked these points from Matt.Shane and Cambgulls post, because i think they are valid and relevant here,as we all know the club is in a difficult position right now, however i do see all three sides in the above quote's
To me Matt is right our club compared to most league 2 clubs not all,are really not that bad in terms of wages they pay,if this was the case we would have no players, well certainly not any good enough for league 2 anyway.
To combine the second two quote's,shane makes a very good point ,and i agree i think it would be foolish for our club to tie any players to contracts with out the say so of the new manager ,who of course may not want them, but also as Cambgull points out ,league 2 players do not earn that much and as we all know its about security for players at this level.
It would appear that the club has not contacted any of these players,if that really is the case then i view that as shamefull, our club of course could not enter into contract talks with any of the players, but should have had the common deceny to have phoned them given them an update on what was happening and a time line for a new manager appointment, this in all honesty may not have stopped Stanley and Robinsn signing elsewhere, however would have atleast given the option of signing for Torquay to the players, which it looks like were not given to them.

I wondered how long it would take the NTFC fan to behave like a total knob, just like the rest of them, two posts as it turns out, that's almost impressively quick.
Is his username In GJ; wet rust?
Is this the same GJ that took you 1/3 of a season without a win?
For those who missed the point of my original post, it has nothing to do with Jake Robinson specifically, it's more to do with the attitude and application of the club. To offer him something and get rejected is one thing, but to simply not bother to speak to him one way or another is just appalling.
