Haha. No wonder they have PMT on the side of every bus.

i wonder how far over budget and beyond schedule it'll be, most projects, if grand designs is anything to go by, are at least 50% overspent and six months overdue!!

So does this mean you're a "stand is always half built" kinda guy?
I recall being on the pop side a few years back when Lew Pope turned up on a TV gantry on the roof the old stand. He was to my amusement greeted by 1200 popsiders all chanting 'Jump Jump, Jump, Jump!'

!
The cost has already gone up 400k from 1.6million so surely there's no more rise!
Construction costs are very competitive in the current economic climate-should have been able to get a good deal from the tender.
Does anybody know who's building the new stand?

Builders!
I personally think "The Paul Bristow stand" would have been good, but as his wife had something to do with the name (as comments on here have already mentioned about this) the board couldn't say no to "Bristow's Bench." The more I hear it though the more I like it so I don t think it s a bad name really.
Sorry for digging out a (very!) old thread... But I didn't think it was worth starting a new one!
But... I've thought this for a while... Although Bristow's Bench offers an exceptional view to sit in, I've always thought it looks a bit scruffy on TV and from the Popside, and it stood out a bit to me on Sunday on TV. Not the actual seats, they look superb, but the concrete blocks below the seating.
I think it just looks a bit... unfinished? Especially as most of the time it's all you see on TV from the main camera position. Whether it needs to be painted, or we missed a trick not putting a small row of terracing in like the old Grandstand (probably restrictions on new terracing).
Not sure what I'm asking to be honest... just sharing a thought!

Concrete blockwork can make a significant contribution towards satisfying the requirement to limit the risk of internal fire spread within the structure. Aside from that the blocks could be covered with digital advertising hoarding panels and generate a source of revenue for the club or just to display the club branding, logo' etc. Today's digital hoarding can create unique designs with striking imagery or graphic design.

The design is very much a result of the confined nature of the site (the lane behind the stand had to be maintained) and the need to get some subsidy for the construction costs from Education budgets (there is an IT suite and gym which are part of Westlands School although the Club can also use the gym). Had the seats run right down to pitch level, as with many other stands, this would have severely reduced the ground floor foot plan. Anyone who knew the old grandstand would know just how restricted this would be. As for having terracing in the area in front of the wall, this would not be possible because of the need to comply with modern safety standards. Painting would be a maintenance liability but it has been used for advertising hoardings in the past - perhaps one day, when we are in the Championship and regularly on mainstream TV - the whole wall can be put to this use (as suggested by MY)!
