Torquay Vs Crawley (Reserves)

Post by AlexGulls »

Anyone else heading up to this tommorow afternoon? 2 O'Clock K/O

£3 Adults/£1 Under 16's.

Not sure what team he'll put out but be something to do at the very least.

Will be hard for many fans to turn out considering the recent form, but could be a chance to see how the reserves are going to react to Ling slating them. Hopefully they can restore some pride to our reserves.

Mind you, Crawley have a big squad and many full time lads will be on show...
Maybe one day, Carayol will find London...

Actually there won't be, they are only sending their "kids" down for this one and so it really is a game we should win. I know results aren't really important as far as the Reserves are concerned (unless it's a 9-1 defeat which is totally unacceptable!) but it would be nice for the side (made up of 10 pros this time) to get a decent win and maybe show Martin Ling what they can do if they really try!

On the subject of the reserve league, I reckon this may be the last season we enter a team, unless things change. All that seems to be happening is that given the distances involved (at least for us) we are basically seeing youth teams being picked by the travelling team, be that us or the opposition, in order to fulfill the fixture - which is not really what a reserve team is supposed to be about. Last season was pretty good I thought, but that was different because we had the likes of Exeter and Plymouth involved but now having to travel to the likes of Cheltenham, Brighton and Crawley just makes it a pretty futile exercise in my opinion. A great shame if we were to pack it in given the time it took to get it back again, but totally understandable given the current set up.

Be interesting to see who plays. Will Ellis be given a run out before being subbed to save him for Saturday? Will Saah be the man to replace him, suggesting his is the man being dropped on Saturday? Will any other current first-teamers appear? Will any other fringe players be rested for Saturday?

I can't go this week, but I would just like to hear a report that the players actually showed a bit of hunger for a first team place, not just a bunch of geezers trotting round in the local park until the pub opens.....obviously extended opening hours means that the pub is probably already open............maybe that's why they are hacked off at having to play and showed no fight. COYYRs(Reserves).
