Quite disappointed and genuinely shocked that we still have as many as 500 TICKETS left to sell on the Popside as at this morning! With less than 36 hours to go to shift them, it seems unlikely now that we will sell out, which given that we only have TWO sides of the ground to fill as it stands, must really make the Directors of TUFC wonder why they are even bothering to build a new 1750 seater stand !!! Quite frankly, if we can't sell what must amount to no more than 3,500 tickets for the home areas for a local derby that hasn't been played for donkeys years and on the back of four successive wins with some very entertaining football being played this season then what is the point?

I know there will probably be a late rush, but I highly doubt they will shift them all at this late stage. :( I guess a large part of the South Devon public has quite simply lost interest in following it's local team, that is unless they happen to be playing at Wembley or Old Trafford!

Am I right in thinking they have only just decided not to let people in on the gate?

Could be why so many haven't bought tickets....

Shocking, absolutely shocking. Would not be surprised if we are outnumbered in our own ground by Argyle fans on Saturday. We are favourites to beat them for the first time in god knows how many years and we can't even fill two stands.

For a team with such fantastic away support our home support is shite.

Judging by a few replies on this thread, and a number of people who i know, and have asked me about the game i would think the issue here once again is communication.

This game was annouced as all ticket, on the O/S but where else, it would appear that more than a few gulls still dont know it's all ticket, how many of our fan's are going turn up on the day expecting to pay on the gate as normal.

Two TUFC fan's i know did not buy tickets for the game because they thought , they could not without a voucher, they now have because i put them right on it, and 3 others i know, did not know it was all ticket untill Tuesady night , when once again i told one , who passed it on to his mates, i am not trying to beat on the club here as i can see they are working so hard to improve, however why are not getting the message across and out to all fan's.

I think it's shocking that we haven't sold out yet. First game with argyle for years and we can't even fill two sides of our ground with Gulls fans.

The club seriously needs to advertise themselves out in the high streets and local shops. There are too many people in Torquay who support the big premier league teams and not their local one. Tinpot.

500 tickets ?!?!? That is ridiculous! I accept we're never going to be a well supported club but it's never been this bad. What a shame for the players.

It was always ALL TICKET - but the only change that has been made as far as my understanding goes is that up until today it was possible to buy matchday tickets at the ticket office on the morning of the game - that is no longer (on police advice it seems) going to be possible so the last opportunity for home fans will be up until 5.30pm on Friday evening (which is an extended opening time anyway) in order to try and sell as many as possible.

I guess we can come up with all sorts of excuses why people haven't bought tickets but I honestly don't think we can really blame the club for any lack of communication. OK, I accept that the marketing of the club around the town could be a whole lot better, but in all honesty it's really not that difficult for any "real" TUFC fan to find out what the ticketing arrangements are and to make sure that they have a ticket well in adavance of the game.

to be fair Dave, if i wanted ticket information, the first place i'd look is on the official website, or phone the club. if people haven't done that, they only have themselves to blame. don't get me wrong, i totally agree with you that more advertising wouldn't go amiss for the club in general. andrew candy has been on here saying they're working hard on that, and things are moving forwards, but any TUFC fan that hasn't thought to buy tickets in advance for a home game against plymouth, with all the current redevelopment etc, well, it's down to them, and not the club on this occasion. this game was on my calendar the day the fixtures were released, and i wasn't going to leave it til matchday to get tickets.

Chris/Brady, i am not dissargeeing with either of you, was not trying to beat on the club as i can see the hard work they are doing to improve.

So far this season we have had a diehard 2200 turning up for most matchs, and i should imagine most are either season ticket holders or have got there tickets, which is borne out if there 500 tickets left, for me it is about getting the floating supporter excited about this match, and getting the imformation out to them, about the match and it being all ticket, there is even a small amount of confusion on here as whehter the match was all ticket and when it was annouced.

Yes with the Herald only weekly that does not help, and I.T.V around here coming out of Wales :@ , however there is Palm radio, heart and gold south west radio aswell not saying it has not been there, i have not heard anything, and seen no advertising around Newton Abbot and the bay as i have been driving around.

I dont think the current situation with the ground helps. Very limited seating and if your a floater that normally sits, you'll probably not bother this year. I must admit the hassle of getting a couple of tickets for Saturday for myself and my prawn sandwich son who likes to sit has put me off, along with the 400 mile round trip.

Next years attendance v Argyle i'd bet will be bigger (if there is one :)

I think you're right Dave - all the regulars will have made sure they've got their ticket well in advance. Unfortunately by making the match all ticket it does put the "floaters" off - it's most likely that a lot of people who may have been "thinking" about going won't bother now simply because they will have to make an "extra" trip to buy a ticket - the easy option will be to stay at home! I also agree with Numpte that there's probably quite a few who are currently giving TUFC a miss as they can't sit where (and with who) they want to and don't fancy standing on the popside.

I also think that quite a few of the "floaters" may have (wrongly) assumed that given the fact that we only have two sides to the ground these days that the game would be a sell out anyway and they had little or no chance of getting a ticket. In that respect I don't think the club has done itself any real favours by giving the impression (that's the way I read it at least) over the last few days of there only being a "few" tickets left for the Popside! That's the way it was being reported on the Herald Express website and on the OS .... I really don't feel that still having 500 tickets left to shift is just a "few"! I would say that's more like "plenty"! Clearly it may well now be too late in the day to get this message across and so that (combined with the police decision not to allow us to sell any on the morning of the game) has probably meant we (TUFC) have shot ourselves in the foot a bit and most likely now we will fall well short of a sell out.

Shame.

I'd completely agree with your assesment of what's going on CP Gull. In all the media outlets it sounded like tickets would sell out last week, which is a obvious ploy to hope tickets sell faster as people scramble for them, but it appears to have backfired. Some of my friends were put off for this very reason, one said to be the other day "no, i saw last week they only had like 100 tickets left, they'll be gone by now".

Shame.
Maybe one day, Carayol will find London...

Very good points raised by all on this. 500 tickets left is still embarrassing though..
