Absolutely, there is no excuse for racism on or off the pitch. Just sad that it can't be John Terry instead. That little weasel deserves some comeuppance an hes' shite. Suarez will be missed as he is an entertaining quality player, Terry is just a robotic carthorse with crap hair.

He can't be banned for 10 games unpaid by the FA, and I very much doubt Liverpool would be allowed to do that either. Even if they could, they almost certainly wouldn't because that would upset one of their star players who they paid a lot of money for.

I do think there should be a harsher punishment than what was given though, although I haven't seen a clip of the incident.

The point about the fine is a valid one. Magistrates sentencing guidelines for speeding START at 50% of gross weekly income. Bearing in mind that 100 on the motorway will attract a band C fine, starting at 200% of weekly income (alongside a 7-56 day ban or 6 points), do we honestly think that it was worth fining Suarez at all (as if LFC won't pay the fine anyway).

You're probably right there Matt. The only punishment to Liverpool and perhaps Suarez himself is the suspension so maybe the FA should have forgot about the meaningless fine and extended the suspension period.

If it is true that where he comes from the term is commonly used then I think he should re-educated as to why it is unacceptable language in this country and warned that if it happens again he will not be allowed to play in any English League again.

Suarez has apologised, claiming he didn't realise it would cause offence, I can't say if that's the truth, but if there was no malice or racist intent, then I don't agree with a lifetime ban. He has played with and against black players for his entire career without another incident like this, as far as we know, and no one else on the field of play has come forward to say they heard what was said and how it was said, including Evra's own team mates. Evra has admitted saying some very unpleasant things to Suarez himself, so it seems as if they'd been at each other all match.

Not that that makes it ok. Suarez should not have said what he said. I'm not quite ready to label him a racist though, I don't think a true racist would feel the need to apologise for their behaviour.

However, if you want to call him a big cheating, biting, troll bag that is fine by me.

to be honest, i'm getting a bit fed up of all this racism bandwagon. it seems to be the current trend to blame everything on racism again, but it's still too much of a one way street in my opinion. before anyone slates me, i'm not justifying racism or trying to defend Suarez or anyone else, there's no need for it, in football or anywhere else. But since this and the John Terry/Anton Ferdinand carry-on, all these black former players are coming out the woodwork to throw in their two pennies worth. they all want an end to it, but how will it ever end when it is so easy to claim to be a victim of it ??

i don't know what suarez said, maybe he WAS well out of order, but i find no surprise in the fact that it apparently happened to evra of all people, who then went crying to the authorities.

maybe i'm wrong, (i live in london for christ sake, the multi-cultural capital of the universe, and have friends from all nationalities, colours, cultures etc....) , and i mean no offence to anyone so apologies if it's come across that way, but i'm just getting a bit fed up with all the "poor little us" rubbish.

on a final note, i remember years ago when fashanu played for us. we were away to brentford, and he was in front of the home terracing to take a throw in, and from our seats across the other side of the pitch, we heard laughter from the home crowd. after the game i met up with a bees fan mate of mine and he told me what happened. as the bloke in the crowd threw the ball back to fash, he said "there you go you f**kin' black poof", to which fash replied "f**kin RICH black poof". everyone laughed, end of story.

I hope the FA are consistant with this now theyve set a marker. If John Terry is found guilty aswell he should face the same ban as Suarez.

He should face more because he has no claim of cultural diffrences and ignorance that Suarez could. He is also England's captain and if guilty should be removed from this position.

You should see the old skool americans who can't stand Obama because he is black. They hate, not for anything other than his color.

I'd agree with that. But the same as Suarez should be the minimum he's given. Theyve set the standard now so they should be consistant with it.
