Martin Ling is Manager of the Month
Award for January should be announced soon, possibly on Monday.
Previous winners:
August: Andy Scott (Rotherham)
September: Paul Sturrock (Southend)
October: Steve Evans (Crawley)
November: Mark Yates (Cheltenham)
December: Phil Parkinson (Bradford)
The only two real contenders for January are Swindon's Paolo Di Canio and our own Martin Ling. Torquay's five successive wins in January put us firmly into the play-off positions, whereas Swindon drew one of their five (Barnet away 1-1) * but their 4-1 victory at Southend propelled them into the top three. In addition, in the FA Cup they beat Wigan 2-1 (home) and lost to Leicester (0-2 away), though I'm not sure whether these games are included in the judges' deliberations.
So, between Paolo and Martin, it's Martin for me. Place your bets..

give it to Poalo.....poisened chalice
Wasn't the Barnet 1-1 draw in the JPT?
I'm sure they've won 5 and lost 1 of their last 6.. prizes for guessing who that defeat was against?

Yes you're right, my mistake, Swindon's draw at Barnet was in the JPT. So they won all four of their league games in January. Their last league defeat was 1-0 at Plainmoor on 26 December. Where's my prize?NickGull wrote:Wasn't the Barnet 1-1 draw in the JPT?

I believe it is just league games that count but i could be wrong. I believe Martin deserves it more than Paolo and on the face of it should get it but Paolo will get it IMO simply as he is high profile, sad though it is.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.
Your prize would have been a free ticket to the game tomorrow but unfortunately the games now cancelled, the prize is void. Sorry..Gullscorer wrote: Yes you're right, my mistake, Swindon's draw at Barnet was in the JPT. So they won all four of their league games in January. This prize should be judged in perspective. Di Canio is where he is because he has spent hundreds of thousands of pounds. They're not where they are because of any particular skill from Di Canio, they're there because they've spent more than anyone else. Same with Crawley, it's an absolute joke that they have spent the money they have and aren't 50 points clear. If anything, being second or third really shows up what poor managers they must be, when compared with Dinger, who hasn't spent a single penny and is just a couple of points behind.

Mr Scorer, it's a pleasure.
Dave, you agree with everything I say, like all right minded people.

I presume you have stopped training as a lawyer - as that post of yours actually made sense.
Even Camb will agree with it
