Louis wrote:I have offered my help but not needed. Couldn't think of anything worse than putting in a request for every change needed, which is then prioritised by club size and how much they pay them - hence our delays as we're little Torquay. I'd rather own it all myself and update it instantly if I were Tim. Don't get me wrong nothing against Tim, he's a top bloke and heart is in the club. Roll on contract end date.

All it needs is a good overhaul and then someone to update it for a few minutes each day. It annoys me that they don't change the player profiles, I'm not expecting them to do it on the day they go, but we have still got Mark Ellis and Ray Spear on there and they are long gone.

The player profiles I believe are updated by request and cannot be updated by Tim. Hence why it takes a bazillion years for the updates. I wouldn't mind betting FLi's accounts department is right on the ball when it comes to subscription time though...

I've just tried to look at the new season's fixture list on the club's OS. Quite apart from the new site being so slow and difficult to navigate and there being only half the info that was available on the previous site, you now have to download the fixture list which comes in a .ICS file, which my computer will not/cannot open. But, why should it have to? Never had to do this on the old OS.

All these problems may not be the fault of TUFC, but somebody should be complaining to somebody, and if nothing improves, the club should consider setting up its own OS. :@

Think it might be your computer, internet connection and/or browser choice. The fixture list has been fine for a while for me and loads pretty quickly. You aren't forced to download the fixture list as an .ics file as it's all on the web page. There is an option to download the fixture list as an .ics file as well, which you can open in programs like outlook to add/view the fixtures on your personal calendar(s). I'm guessing the web page isn't loading correctly for you and you're just seeing the top part of the screen.

Yep, found it; many thanks. Must be my poor eyesight, I only saw the download box on the left of screen.

But why oh why is the list set out in such an inflated format with white text on black and grey background? A plain list with normal text would be so much shorter and simpler..!!

In a similar manner to Louis, I am also more than happy to offer help with the OS. I am not one to boast credentials - IT is a very ego based industry. I have my own IT consultancy company and development/design resources together with facilities for dedicated hosting etc. I would be more than happy to volunteer to to be part of any working party that wanted to work to improve the provision of such a beneficial service to our fans - and make our site one of the best. However, as is the case with all corporate style arrangements these offers will probably be met with all sorts of objections.

Having looked at the latest changes to the OS and indeed the site over recent years - it could be so much better.

As fans surely we have a say on such matters. So, if Andrew / Tim are reading this and you think there is any mileage in a proposal for a change - you know where to find us!
May not be the original, but I am the best 'TauntonGull' .... See I can do signatures too, coz I am a real boy!

Yeah, but how many twitter followers do you have? Clearly way more important :)

I've lost the will to go to it anymore, its so poor, takes ages to load across a variety of platforms, is late with news and has this ridiculous black background with white text which for me after 2 or 3 sentences starts to make my eyes strain.

Its so bad its laughable.

You have to wonder what sort of experienced people are employed by FLi, trainee web developers by the looks of it.

It must be so frustrating for the webmaster of the OS. Things were improving on the old site under his tenure with very regular updates and quotes pieces but that progress appears to have been severely pegged back by this move by the football league. It wouldn't surprise me if visitor numbers fall sharply now, and they will be hard to recover, even if the technical problems ease. As I think, like many, even if the links do work and everything runs better the site is still incredibily badly layed out and even the little things, like the fact you have to load another page to read the second half of a story, or even load 5 pages to read a whole match report, annoy me immensely. Wow, I used a lot of commas there.
Maybe one day, Carayol will find London...

Get someone to post up the articles on the Torquay website to here, as it loads quicker and actually works.

Is it just me, or is the link to the Club Shop inoperative?
Fate: A police dog called Bryn bit Torquay player Jim McNichol and the time while he was receiving treatment was added onto the end of the second half.
