Simon Baker stands in front of us on the Pop Side and he said to us that they would bring someone in on loan to replace Downes.

Not for a professional foul, it's just a 1 game ban. If its violent conduct or serious foul play then it's three games

Ha! That's brilliant, we walked out of the game worried about missing Downes for Plymouth! Huge relief.

The right back we signed from Newcastle. Who got injured in Pre Season and hasnt managed to remove Oastler from that position. Think he made one sub appearance last year against Bradford away.

Plus points to Alex for excellent memory.

Minus points from Alex for failing to spot obvious sarcasm.

T'was a toungue-in-cheek joke, referring to his complete lack of development at the club so far. However, I understand he did play for Newcastle Reserves for a spell at centre-half, so I wouldn't be against putting him on the bench as cover.

Glad you got it Matt! :)

Pretty damning though that with Leadbitter on the bench on Saturday, we preferred to play our Right back at centre half and our reserve left back at right back..........

Yeah that would have been a good shout too. Given how bad we looked once we reshuffled on sat, if we don't get a loanee in I'd like to see McKenzie given a shot. I'm sure he'll be raw and inexperienced, but I think when you compare him to Ed Palmer (who didn't make the grade) I think McKenzie looks much more like a centre half - much bigger and stronger. No disrespect to Palmer, but you could never truly imagine him getting a sniff against a Jon Parkin-esque player. McKenzie looks like a far more physical presence.
