Which is, of course, lovely, but rather goes against the point (such as it was) that I was making.
We already have enough silly names for things at Plainmoor (and in sport in general), the last thing we need is to have it called The-South-Devon-Borough-of-Torbay-Unitary-Authority-Welcomes-You-to-the-Sunny-English-Riviera-Stadium. Have you seen the names of horse races lately, or tried to watch any American sports? It's entirely beyond a joke and we would have to be offered £10,000,000 to even think about considering it.
Matt.

Going back to ticket prices for this game, i don't know which side pushed for it to be full price but i rather think that come tomorrow, they may be rueing their greed perhaps?
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Obviously this is hypothetical, but revenue wise I dont think there will be much difference.
For example 1000 fans at 20 quid a pop is the same revenue as 2000 at 10 quid a pop. This doesnt take into account kids and oaps, or money spent at the ground, but if we halved the price, I doubt we'd double the crowd. Impossible to prove, but from Harrogates point of view, who get to split the gate receipts, it makes perfect sense financially, even if it doesnt from ours.

MK Dons have just drawn 0-0 at Cambridge City despite being a championship chasing side full of quality and despite having 13 corners and 39 shots at goal. That is the FA Cup and what can happen. In my opinion the Dons players should be embarrassed, thoroughly ashamed and give the ticket money back to the fans though but that's the cup.

Harrogate fans seem quietly confident of getting something.

If ever there was a warning needed that we can't just turn up and win, thats it. Full strength team please Lingy.

I spoke to "The Mentalist" (Google will help you, although it's not complicated) after the match against somebody (our last league game) and mentioned that Rene managed not to get booked in the one match where, really, we wanted him to. He replied that we NEED a full strength side out because we are desperate to progress in the Cup for the money that's on offer. Make no mistake, Dinger will be fielding the strongest XI he has at his disposal, and quite rightly so.

Trevdee on their forum ( cick on Alex's link above for it, cheers Alex ) says that we all think Veiga, Bloomer and Elam are the core of their team and that we are naive and know nothing about them. First of all in my opening post i said that Veiga wasn't even playing the last few games and i highlighted Bolder and Merris and not Bloomer and Elam so trevdee if you are reading, please come on and tell me where i am going wrong? Why SHOULD we know anything about a non league club who play 300 miles away tell me? Some of the fans that use this forum are total obsessives when it comes to non league football in the South West whether it be Tiverton, Bideford, Truro, Willand, Bodmin or wherever and they know the leagues and the players. Trevdee, do you know who plays for Tiverton and who their danger men are? No, and why? Because they play over 250 miles away and are not an immediate concern in terms of opposition to Harrogate or geography to Harrogate. So let's hope your men run their socks off for the full 90 as you say and give us a game, if we get beaten then we'll hold our hands up. Our desire at times this season has been lost and desire on your part MIGHT be enough to get you through should we play at a slow tempo throughout but let's not cloud anyone's judgement here, Torquay are in league 2 and Harrogate are not therefore we are reasonably expecting our players, as professionals to go out there tomorrow and get the job done. Nobody is underestimating you. In my opening post i said we should be winning against you comfortably and that is the case. Like i said, we're a league club and you are not so it is reasonable to assume an easy win. I'm not saying we should take you for granted, you are a poor side in comparison and we should be dispatching you easily. Of course this is the FA Cup and strange things happen. Oh and thanks to that other fella for commenting on the fawlty towers / we're in Torquay thing, tell him that it finished in 1979 and Torquay has moved on considerably since then, if he doesn't know anything else about the place then whose naive now?! Harrogate, you've got a Betty's Tea Rooms on the corner, and you are a Spa town. There is nothing else there is there not? According to that bloke there is nothing in Torquay but John Cleese ( now 73 ) having a seizure.

Possibly shouldn't have said that so apologies, it was disrespectful. I've made my point ( above ) so that's it.

Jase, i SWEAR it's the music i listen to that affects my moods man! Why aren't you like this? A bit of Raging Speedhorn whilst responding to a particularly annoying post can have serious implications on what is written!

God forbid we ever take the money and run with your attempt at a name like that. But it is way better than "The Ferrari Lover is always right and is training to be a lawyer and assumes everyone thinks he is brilliant". stadium. Even if I do tend to agree with you somtimes, ferrarilover wrote:Which is, of course, lovely, but rather goes against the point (such as it was) that I was making.

Matt.
I even think I would prefer the "Trojan is the love Child of Walter" Stadium instead.

Just seen their matchday thread. Is it REALLY that unreasonable that we expect our side to win? We are clear of two divisions above our opponents, and that is the gap between the Football League and the second tier of teams featuring plucky amateurs. Yeah, lovely, they have some talent, no doubt, and they aren't going to roll over and die after half an hour, but this is a team full of plumbers and milkmen and a couple of ex-pros, up against guys who devote their lives to football, train every day for 4 hours, some for over 20 years. If we aren't fitter, stronger, better, more skilful than Harrogate Town, then something is seriously wrong. I'm sure HTFC are a perfectly nice side. I've seen an exceptional side at that level (Dartford of a couple of years ago, featuring a bloke I recommended to one P. Buckle, goes by the name of Charlie Sheringham, snapped up by Bournemouth and would have done a lovely job for us) and I would suggest that, even if HTFC are as good as the Darts of that time, then we should still be dealing with them with relative ease. No, it won't be men against boys, it won't be a mirror image of when Leicester came to us a few short months ago and left us with a possession percentage statistic in single figures. It won't be like Man Utd v The Dog and Duck, but it will be Torquay v Harrogate, which, no matter how much respect you pay to Harrogate Town SHOULD only result in one winner.
