Apologies if this has been a thread before but the article in Express about our away support at York got me thinking about where we stood in the League - ie away fans as % of home gate.
Turns out we are first, and third in the Football League overall.
Apparently ferrarilover that is a fact. :na:

where to start on this old debate! is admission too high? id say yes, i think a little reduction next season would stand the club in good stead, along with a playoffs final victory and promotion and a hefty sale for a player....
maybe Ricey to chelsea for 5 million, thatd do nicely

Surely this is a sign that many youths growing up in the bay and followed the gulls over the years have left the area in search of better pay, better career options. When TU are in town , they make the effort to go to the game because they are not able to see home games?
I recall going to Barnet on a Friday night last year when there was something like 700+ gulls, bet only 150 of those travelled from Devon.
As a result our home attendances suffer.

Yeah, this is pretty much the answer. South Devon tends to be somewhere that people are from, rather than live. There aren't really a huge amount of well-paid jobs, so a lot of people move away.numpte wrote:Surely this is a sign that many youths growing up in the bay and followed the gulls over the years have left the area in search of better pay, better career options. I am delighted to report that Uber has managed to post an actual, bonafide fact, the first this site has seen for quite some time. :~D
Does anyone have a link to the Express article mentioned in the OP?
Matt.

Our away support is the best in the country and anyone who says it isn't wears a dress. :na:
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.
