One easy way to find out, wait until the summer, if a number of players are released and 6 new signings turn up , then you will know whether it is true or not.. :)

To be honest I have had feeling for some time time a clear out is on the way, no manager in his right mind at this level would allow a situation where by he has 16 players out of contract in the summer, I believe a re-think is on the way.

A clearout of the squad has always been on the cards, and it just so happens that this is when most players' contract are up and Ling has an opportunity to do so without paying compensation.

When Ling took over he simply tried to hold together the squad Buckle was trying to rip apart as the squad had been fairly successful. (If it aint broke, don't fix it... and all that). This is probably behind Stevens getting a 2-year deal and I'm sure there are others but I can't be bothered to look it up at this hour!

This summer is big for our club. But I think Ling is fairly practical and good on the transfer market. He'll go looking for players that are available on the cheap and sell our club to them by saying 'we can be a stepping stone to something big' and point to the previous successes. Going North of the border in search of talent will probably be his best bet. Olejnik probably only came here as Ling said he could then jump up a few leagues if he played well.
Maybe one day, Carayol will find London...

Maybe I work at the club and speak to Martin quite regularly or I may be friends with someone on the playing staff, I'm not going to say how but I can assure you I know. Talks are not ongoing with Rene or any other player until the summer as there is a pot of money to share out amongst the squad and until Martin decides who is coming in and who's going out he will then know how much he has got to offer Rene. There is going to be no increase in the budget so you can't just say give Rene more money because it doesn't exist. The only way he gets more is to loose people from the squad and juggle the finances. Also again alot of players wanted to secure contracts now but would trigger clauses in their current contracts so because of the financial situation the club won't sit down and discuss any contracts until the summer as not to trigger those clause's. I hope this clears up the issue. it really annoys me when people don't know what's going on and rather than stick to the truth they just write random comments.

I see the Herald are suggesting one or two names as possible targets today. One of them is Jayden Stockley, but we can forget him as he has just extended his loan stay with Woking until the end of the season ... I wonder whether he was the one who didn't fancy a move down here as indicated by SB?

The other is big Jon Akinde, who has caused us a few problems in the distant past it must be said .... he is now a free agent having had his contract paid up early at Crawley last month, so I guess it's down to whether he would want to come down here on a short term deal until the end of the season or hold out for a longer deal closer to "home". His scoring record over recent seasons is quite frankly woeful (despite being largely injury free he has only scored 4 goals in the last 4 seasons!) but he is certainly a big unit and still has some " raw" potential I suppose.

It seems that Benyon is also still a possibility, although quite rightly he is not being considered as a replacement for Rene, it seems to suggest he might be in addition to a big man, which would make more sense.

Rather worryingly, in my opinion, we are considering going with what we've got for the next two home games , until Rene's return, which could work .... but I seriously doubt it!

A strike force of Jarvis/Yeoman is hardly going to strike fear into the defences of Fleetwood and Rotherham now is it?

Even more worrying, is the absence of Martin Ling for another week ... get well soon, Martin.

Roadrunner put your source to the test then I've sat here and watched so many people on here speculate and just make things up that I cannot stand it anymore. You put up stuff from your source and I will too and we will have a wager who gets the most correct.

Wouldn't mind seeing John AKinde coming in but I think Jarvis would need to be pushed further forward and Bodin/Craig would have to get in the box more to score the goals as I don't see Akinde contributing to the score much. Good player to perform the rest of the 'Rene role' though.

As for Benyon, what's the point? If we bring Benyon in then we should release Yeoman as he obviously never has a chance.
