First class post Ian (Royal Gull).

I've been in the loop due to Martin keeping his workmate (Tony) up to date. I see now why you posted on the other thread, "Should I comment SG ?". ;-)

The weight room will be a doddle to Martin after his spell as a groundworker/bricklayer's "assistant".

To your credit brucie, you seldom react to the personal abuse you get from fellow posters.

Now leave me out of your "we all know it".

I don't think brucie gets personal abuse, I think his posts are just held with the same general contempt by most to that he shares with anything to do with TUFC.

I enjoy reading brucie's posts because they are always "alternative".

If anyone has a go at him I'll defend his right to "entertain" simply because the forum lacks natural born "entertainers".

He has a right to post what he likes and a right to post his opinion, absolutely correct. If he's 'fishing' he's very good at it. If not then I would seriously recommend him another club because it can't be too good on the old boy's health supporting a club he disagrees with so often.

Entertainment is fine, expressing alternative views is of course fine and expected on a forum. However, I can't for the life of me see how calling players "crap" before they have kicked a ball is either entertaining or usefully alternative. All it may do is make us all unhappy and, potentially, undermine the confidence of those in the team who read this forum. There are many worse keepers than Martin Rice, and he deserves a chance to prove that he has improved since being away in Truro. There is a point at which expressing alternative views becomes dysfunctional, damaging and unjustified abuse of Gulls players, and I think we see that in this case.

Maybe we should have a thread to discuss the positively negative benefits of the poster known as "Brucie",i have no problem with him, what a truely boring place this would be if this forum was a constant TUFC pep rally, and any one who did not toe the party line was simply dismissed as a "moron".

My understanding of Martin Rice signing, is he's here not to keep the bench warm, but to genuinely challenge for the number 1 shirt. I like the attitude.

Bevan's confidence visibly fell away last season when the "Unforgiving Side" jeered his errors. Martin Rice has been here before and knows what to expect. It'll only make him more determined to succeed.

I don't think anybody has called anybody else a "moron", not anywhere near! It isn't about toeing the party line, it is just about being fair to a new signing until he has a chance to prove or disprove himself. Please don't build this up as a personal attack, it isn't at all.

Brucie's comments are funny and shows a total lack of understanding. He can be as negative and narrow minded as he likes its his choice, I just feel sorry for him.

I am not refering to this forum as a whole, and my comment was about forum life in general, not refering to the new signings,i actually think Ling has done a good job so far. :-D

mcphee, rice, attempt for russell. Is Martin Lings contacts the TUFC payroll clerk?

On the contrary, Martin Ling is the only reason Alex Russell isn't here, so that doesn't really add up.

Back then they were known as an "understudy". These days they are called anything from a "number two" to a "bench warmer".

James Bittner has proved himself to be a very capable 'keeper. Now is the the time for Martin Rice, in his mid twenties, to up his game.

The above quote copied and pasted from the "competition" thread.
