As far as I'm aware, FA Cup rounds aren't played on days designated as Bank Holidays. ;-)

FA Cup 3rd Round day this season is Saturday January 7th 2012 and if we're still in it, it will be our home game against Dagenham that gets postponed.
Thats my bad, i wrote it then noticed the dates were 2009 after i posted it  But yes you are correct with that.
I saw Jan 2nd and thought thats the plymouth game not seeing it had 2009 next to it :red: . Even though its 2011 now and would be jan 2012 :slap:

great day out, spent it in the company of hardofherringgull. introduced myself to someone in the derby tup who i was convinced was andyaustriangull, he'd painted this picture of a dour antisocial northern bloke who was dragging his wednesday supporting mate along with him, so i picked on two northern looking blokes, one of whom had a torquay shirt and bowled over saying are you austrian andy, he replied no i'm from fookin manchester!!

enjoyed the game, save for a period when they dominated after the first ten mins of the second half, i was having a wee when howe scored and from the roar was convinced that chesterfield had gone ahead, was overjoyed on exiting the toilet to see 1-2 on the stadium tv!! lads i was with told me howe had taken the ball from our half, beaten 5 players, pele styled the keeper and then done lua lua somersaults!! i wait to see the actuality on itv highlights tonight!!

spain let me down for nice win, after backing us, crawley, macc, shrews and mk dons this afters, couldnt see anything other than a spain win? ruined an otherwise perfect day out!

nice to meet hofh, shame super couldnt bothered dragging his sorry nothern arse a few miles down the road, and reaquainting myself with the cider bar gulls before, during and after the game!

Great result today - looked as if we would be up against it after they equalised, in view of the fact that Chesterfield had a lot of Tall players in their squad. Have to agree with 'austrianandygull' - it amazes me how professional footballers get caught offside so often, as Rene Howe did this afternoon. Either that or most don't know the Offside Law!!
We looked good when keeping and passing the ball around.
Nicholson's goal at the end fantastic Free Kick from 25 yards - well worth watching on the FA Cup hightlights later.

Well done to Martin Ling and the lads for the 4th consecutive win, plus a mention for the fans who turned out this afternoon. Hope for a good draw in the next round - then a Premier League team in the 3rd Round.

Yellow Army, Yellow Army.
:-D

Haha Bix. I might have responded to you in German mate instead of the 'awrate lad, whats tha dooin rahnd ere son' northern drawl i usually speak with! :na: That would have been a laugh, you may have thought you'd bumped into the Chesterfield branch of the Exiled Austrians Bobby Olejnik Fanclub. Sorry mate but i weren't in the tup, planned to go but had an unexpected bout of IBS after last nights Germanic alcoholic fluid intake so didn't leave the house til 1.30 ish. Sorry to hear about Spain mate, like todays result for us i didn't see that one coming. My Wednesday mate was p****d off too as he had a four timer with Carlisle, Notts, Sheff Utd AND Chesterfield! Serves him right! Hope you enjoyed the game too DonnyGull and had a safe journey back from these here parts. COYY!!!

Good day out was had by all Bixie, thanks for the company and the drink. As you say, it would have been nice to see Barnsley there too.

Just got back. 12 hour day so pretty shattered.

As for the game, I feel the result flatters us somewhat. A replay probably would have been fairer on balance, but we took our chances whereas they did not, thats football.

The opener was a bit weird - I thought Eunan scored it but apparently Danny did - that's what happens when you have the sun directly in your face! It was one of 3 chances we created in the first half - Stevens should have done better with an earlier opportunity but sliced it, and Morris rushed an effort when he had more time than he probably realised. They looked quite good - the front four of Mendy, Clarke, Bowery and Westcarr worked well and Whitaker seemed to find space all the time in the middle, more so in the first half. They should have equalised after Bobby dropped a cross but thankfully Oastler cleared off the line. At half time I'd have said we were deservedly ahead, but it was a tight game that could have gone either way in the second half.

They were going to come at us from the off in the 2nd half, and they did - we looked alot deeper than before, 11 men in our own half for alot of it. Their back line was on the half way line and it was difficult for us to do much as Howe isn't the fastest so couldn't break the offside trap effectively, and was caught offside several times. Eventually their pressure paid off, a decent header by Bowery that Bobby couldn't do much about. At that point I feared the worse - thinking we'd go down 2/3-1 by the end. We didn't look like scoring, and the pressure continued, but no more clear chances were really made. Then, Morris did his best thing of a poor game, playing a perfect through ball for Howe to run on to - he outmuscled two defenders, calm as you like rounded Soderberg and into the open net - unbelievable! Totally against the run of play. Cue wild celebrations, and home fans finding the exits. A bit more pressure - we totally nullified our attack by replacing Stevens, Morris and Howe with Rowe-Turner,McPhee and Taiwoeful, who still managed to be bad in the 5 minutes he was on. He passed it straight out of play when we could have broken away again, and also managed to get outpaced when played through. Still, two minutes from time Nicho bends an absolute corker of a freekick into the top corner. I've been saying we need to shoot from freekicks more often as Nicho has a mean left foot, and that was a fantastic goal.

Great turnout of Gulls, about 350 I think - good noise at the end too.

Oh, and I wormed my way in for the under 18 price saving a fiver! Ideal!

:)

Welcome Karen, i know Bolsover well as it is only a few miles from me. Have they built the new supermarket there yet? I live in Chesterfield near Duckmanton and i'm a gull of 6 years ( supporting time - not my age!). If i want a gilbert then i'll know where to come. Thanks.

Yep. Bolsover MP and one of the rapidly diminishing band of a dying breed - honest politicians who actually do what their job description asks, represent the people first and worry about your job last.
