i have indeed been viewing the barnet forum with great chuckles and mirth these last view days. would love to know who, if anyone it was that they met in a pub that tipped them off about torquays devilish, caniving, cheating scheme to get the game called off (damn, they rumbled us).

i take it they dont know about the fact a hell of a lot of people who live in the area dont support torquay because they are not from the area so generally support teams from wherever it is they are from. so, indeed they talk utter nonsense about the team/club without knowing what they are on about, whilst putting them down at every opportunity and taking the p!ss out of just about everything they can, rightly or wrongly.

if there had been a plot would any torquay fans in the know or even with an inkling have said anything. we were all p!ssed off about the postponement for christs sakes. a lot of torquay fans were put out also.

i think a lot of them are beginning to crack under the pressure and paranoia has set in, looking for conspiracy theories is hilarious. they are well wound up about the fact they are now playing on a tuesday night away because of their record in such fixtures, indeed it sounds like it is 8 years since they have won a tuesday night away game. they're all talking like they owe us some sort of revenge and a win for them tonight would be some sort of justice or redemption.

if we dont win this tonight and we go down as a result all the players ought to be put in stocks before the rovers match and pelted with rotten fruit.

im going tonight, i was very lucky and fortunate enough to get someone to swap shifts with me and it also helps that i work for understanding and helpful management. Oh, and my boss is a massive gulls fan :) .

indeed tonight will be my sons first match, we're not quite as excited as we were on saturday because it all went a bit flat, but in a way with the floodlights and night game atmosphere it may be a better experience.

no tub thumping or inspirational phrases, ive done all that already, we just have to win by any means necessary, go and get the win lads for christs sake. we have got enough to stay up.

Thatchers Gold...check. Poot working...check. Gloves to prevent nail biting...check. OK, that's me ready for tonight. Lovely weather here in the famous Bay, hope conditions are spot on at Plainmoor to suit our fluid, attacking style of play. Would love to be there, be everso, everso grateful for as many updates as poss tonight as am too financially challenged to make the game. (Actually, Matt, if you get a job with huge earning potential, remember I have been your bezzie for many a moon.Obviously, if you end up saddled with debt, who are ya?? :~D )

I feel much more confident about tonight than I did on Saturday, but will still be glad when it's 9.45 and we've got 3 points...

Instead of getting on with it, I'm dicking about on YouTube watching cat videos and posting nonsense on here. If that's how fussed I am about something as important as the rest of my life, how bothered do you really imagine I am about some loser Barnet mugs who reckon that Torquay United controls the weather?

Matt.
In the same boat mate, good luck!

As the kick off approaches it finally dawns on me just how HUGE tonight's game actually is. I know obviously a loss would be catastrophic but a draw would give us another 3 days of waiting before the same scenario happens again at Morecambe where only a win there would be good enough. If we win tonight then we stay up - JUST. IMO.

Can't wait for this. Bring it on and lets waste these cockneys!! ( and Dutchmen ).

Huge game indeed. Defeat = catastrophe. Draw = very poor result, close to disaster. Win = good. Win by more than one goal = very good. Win and Aldershot/Plymouth come unstuck = excellent. Although I agree that our results are what really matters, I believe that our position means that poor results or problems for other teams are a real bonus. For instance, it would be nice to think that the Barnet team coach is still on the M5, having just escaped the excuse for a motorway around Bristol.

Whatever the team need to do to win tonight, they must do it. Con the ref, wind up the opposition, dive, whatever.

Leaving home soon, as optimistic as I could be in the circumstances, but under no illusion about the evening that awaits me.

Agreed,

This game is so important, could't stop thinking about it all day, felt sick at times. Don't want to apportion blame now, plenty of time for that whatever the result later. Couldn't travel Saturday or today not that I didn't want to, just the dilemma I couldn't face should we lose, couldn't trust myself have to be honest. We all want to walk away and say it doesn't matter but the truth is after 45+ yrs of support it's just not possible.

Just hope the players are up for it half as much as I am dreading it and we'll be fine. We have some great players on their day and theres absolutely no reason why the spirit of Barnet, Southend and Wembley shouldn't fill their hearts this evening.

Come on My Club, Torquay.

Same here Dave, been out with the little un today in Donny but i've had the game at the forefront of my mind all day. Not long to go now and i'm sure that in 4 hours time we'll be sitting at home enjoying a beer and wondering what all the worry was about. That's the theory anyway. :-/

Up here in Glasgow radio Devon online does not work for some reason. Do you guys know if there would be a commentary somewhere else? (I currently do not have a Gulls player account). Thanks.

This could be a very tight, tense game.

This is so huge for both sides I hope the occassion doesn't get to our men. I think Knill would be wise to tell the players to relax and get on the ball early. The players shouldn't need 'revving up' as the game is big enough by itself.

I don't think you can get BBC Radio Devon commentaries online mate, i've tried loads of times logging down here in Derbyshire and for some reason it won't let me listen. I think it has something to do with contractual obligations that they can't broadcast them outside of Devon or something but i'm sure someone will come up with the answer as to why not.

Can't say I'm over the moon about that side. Big question marks over Lathrope and Nico on recent form. I personally would have gone with Morris and Cruise.

Still, strong looking bench for a change, although slightly one-paced (as in I'd like to have seen Macklin in there)
