Just out of interest does anyone know if the club will still upload highlights of games onto Youtube for next season? They did it this season but I believe they were taken from a football league highlights extract so I'm not sure whether it'll carry on next season...

What are people's predictions for the Conference next season? Not sure if this is worthy of a thread of it's own or not.

I was reading Alan Alger's column in the Non-League Paper and he stated how, not since Boston United in 2001, has a team finished outside the top 10 and then won the division the next season. So, every winner since, was in the top ten the season before. Therefore, with Cambridge and Luton promoted, that leaves Gateshead, Grimsby, Halifax, Braintree, Kidderminster, Barnet, Woking & Forest Green.

I do not imagine that Gateshead, Halifax, Braintree or Woking are likely champions. Nor do I see Kidderminster or Forest Green winning it. However, Grimsby and Barnet, I think could challenge and you can probably add Wrexham into that mix as well, as they have recruited a talented young manager, who has been successful at non-league level.

Also, add Bristol Rovers, now they are set for a big windfall from Rickie Lambert's move to Liverpool.

With the exception of Braintree, who I think may fall away this season, I reckon all of those clubs will challenge next year for the play-offs plus the likes of Salisbury and a recovering Lincoln.

As for Torquay, seeing as we are stuck with Knill's dross, that we cannot get rid of, I think lower mid-table or worse will be our lot, next year.

Even with the remains of Alan Knills dross lower mid table would be a disaster surely. The Conference is by some way a lower standard than league 2 but surely the players we have got were playing league football for goodness sake.
That should surely see is challenging for the play offs minimum.
If we cannot achieve that then we will end up playing in front of crowds of less than 1000.

From what I've seen so far, don't rule out FGR already made a number of good signings, nor Kidderminster, Grimsby and Barnet I think will be up there, Wrexham have already started the process of bringing in some younger, with potential players, so could see them up there, Bristol Rovers have had a budget that dwarfed many in League 2, so for them it's all about getting it right, if they do could take some stopping. As for us, would be a major shock to me, if our team gets anywhere near the top 10 sadly, think, we as a club may just have jumped on a greasy pole.

Forest Green like to splash the cash and so far without much success! ( therefore they'll be up there next season)

Kidderminster and Wrexham are in rebuild i doubt they'll be title contenders

Grimsby and Barnet will challenge the play offs, there will be a couple of unexpected teams too

IF we can get rid of our crap, sign who CH would like i see no reason why we won't be in the top 6

I pretty much agree on Kiddie and Wrexham, and not suggesting either will be title contenders, both clubs like us are in re-build mode, the point for me is, both Kiddie and Wrexham have begun that process and brought in some decent young players already, thing being for us, until the club starts to shift on players we already have and that's looking less likely as the weeks go by, that re-build process can't begin, hopefully CH does get the players he wants, and we do finish top 6, but, at the moment I personally only see us going backwards before forwards, and gord I hope I'm wrong.

Agreed on FGR, they have for a couple of seasons splashed the cash, I just look at Pipe and Wedgebury and the young they've signed from Welling who I admit know little about, these could be the missing links for them, don't see them winning it, just wouldn't rule them out.

Hi Gulls, Me again, now a much more miserable sod as a supporter of a Conference team !!!! Just about "sunk" in now.
Sounds just about as active at your club as ours and not sure out of the two of us who has the credentials to challenge this season. You seem to have the opposite problem to us in that you seem to have pretty well the basis of the players who took you down whereas we have very little left so whereas you probably need to get rid of some before you sign some we actually need to sign some!!!
Not sure which is the best position to be in to be honest as surely with so many players with Football League experience whilst not being good enough for League 2 they should be a better proposition in the Conference. We are pretty much in the same position as we were when Buckle came in with promises from our Manager that we will be signing 10-12 new players but until we actually see some of his signings then it is very difficult to predict our future. This figure of 10-12 is based on keeping the players we have left but not sure that we will actually manage that as I can see other clubs being interested in them despite the fact they relegated us. It always annoys me that the players get a club relegated but they always seem to come out smelling of roses and get clubs above the standard we are playing.
I can see an interesting period coming up now as hopefully we sign some players. Attacking wise I am sure whoever we sign will be better than what we had last year but not so convinced that we will come out of this with a better team. We shall see. Good luck to all of you. I am going to predict that we will both have a mediocre season and that will hopefully spur us both on to be chasing at least play offs!!!

If you need players friendly we are only too pleased to offer you many of our stars from last season. We have already done you the favour of putting them on a handy list!

Wrexham, I think, will feature. They appointed Kevin Wilkin as manager last season and he has already made some decent signings. He was previously manager of Nuneaton Town from the when they reformed until he left them, last season, in the play-off zone after a couple of promotions.

My prediction -
Winners will be one of Bristol Rovers, Wrexham, Barnet or Grimsby.
Torquay will either just scrape into the play offs or just miss out.

Time to re-do the travelling distances. We'll be heading to Dartford rather than Salisbury now!
