David Phillips new Chairman
Steve Breed is the CEO
and Deano is Director of Football

Judging by the live tweeting it is a very determined and passionate new board which can only serve us well. Anyone know anything more about David Phillips? A quick read of it and I thought it was all a nightmare and Wild Bill was still the big chief!

Seems fairly positive. Shame to see Andrew Candy go but it seems we will see a lot of changes this week...
Anyone know who David Phillips is? Any relation to Bill?
Watering down of youth academy doesn't sound quite as bad as we thought, I guess it will be downgraded to a lower level with less funding?

Thank you all for your comments. I will still be around in the background and I am pleased that I am part of the equation that allows Stephen to commit his time to Torquay United. It has been my privilege to work for the Club and I am very grateful for the ideas, suggestions and support from this forum. I look forward to standing in my usual place on the Popside next season.

Thanks Andrew, in times of how poor it's been in recent seasons, you've been the one to actively listen to fans and engage with us. So a big thank you for all the work you've done from me.

If its who I think it is David Phillips is a former Bookmaker. He is a proper football guy, a life long fan and played semi-pro I beleive.

Thats correct. Though I'm not sure he is a former bookmaker. I think he's still involved.

:goodpost: Thanks also from me. Andrew, you had the misfortune to be Chief Exec during what must have been just about the most traumatic time in the club's history. I am sure you could tell a few tales of what was going on behind the scenes that would leave us gobsmacked ! As Ollie has posted, you were the ONLY one communicating regularly with the lifeblood of TUFC, the fans and that was appreciated. So THANKS for all of your efforts during difficult times and it's good to know that you will still be part of the club (I hope the new Board recognise all you have done).

Very pleased to read the the Youth Academy is to be 'watered down' rather than being completely disbanded. I'm beginning to suspect that Forever is one of the ten because that was his suggestion on here a while ago !!!

And I'm pleased to see that scouting will be increased. Some of our best players (not to mention profitable when moving on) have been those we talent spotted at other clubs, rather than coming through our youth system. Which is not to disparage the work of our Academy, but to recognise the reality that South Devon talent is sparse on the ground compared with more populous (and less remote) areas in the country.

http://www.torquayheraldexpress.co.uk/T ... story.html

"The consortium and new board members are Phillips (chairman), Ron Petersen (vice chairman), Carole Petersen, Shaun and Keira Roberts, Harry and Jill Kerswell, Mervyn and Val Balson and Angela Richards. Breed and Edwards will be co-opted directors."

Doesn't sound so good for the youth team now...
"The closure of the Youth Academy should follow soon with Edwards saying the club is hoping to take on '1980s style' young professionals rather than relying on a youth system as such."
