Well quite - except that I never saw any of the above play. In fact, all three of them had hung up their boots long before I showed up in this world.

This is a difficult one ! I go back further than most and I would go with Don Mills, Sammy Collins and Dennis Lewis. Kevin Hill beat Dennis Lewis's appearances record BUT Lewis played in the days before subs - some of Kevin Hill's appearances were as subs. But our Kev deserves to be on the list just for that 'behind you' goal when he hid behind the goalkeeper. A classic ! Can't forget Robin Stubbs of course and a couple of goalkeepers - Terry Adlington and John Turner. Lee Mansell also deserves to be there for being with the club through thick and thin. The disadvantage nowadays is that few players stay at a club for more than, say, three seasons. In the days of Mills, Collins and Lewis, they remained with the club for seceral seasons.

Got to be the mighty Kevin Hill for me.

Fan for 35 years, some other greats were, in no particular order,

Steve Cooper
Aggy
Rodney Jack
John Turner
Jim McNichol
Beds
The Dude
Bruce Rioch

Sammy Collins and Robin Stubbs were before my time. Earliest memory was of Coops up front with Les Lawrence

They may not have been the best players, but legends to me for different reasons.

I know tongue in cheek there SB so I will do the same! Of the 3 I mentioned I only saw one of them play (Robin Stubbs), but the whole point of an ULTIMATE Torquay hero is that the selection should span the entire history of the club and not just back a few years to when somebody saw their first game. Of course just because you can't remember on the grounds of not being alive at the time doesn't mean it didn't happen!

Old? Time depends on what you compare it against, but always remember this .... I have been your age, you can only hope to get to mine ;-)

I agree with 'young' Stefano this covers the history of the Club and the two outstanding condidates are Don Mills and Sammy Collins with Dennis Lewis a close contender. I saw all the players in that era and I have to go for Sammy Collins as I believe he played more matches than Don Mills. Todays players to not stay long enough to qualify in my opinion.
