This game is on live commentary tomorrow on BBC Radio Sheff. It is NOT on PEAK FM, Chesterfield's radio station though. So anyone who can pick it up and who doesn't have Gullsplayer get theesen tuned in! COYY!!!

7/4 for a Gulls win tomorrow night but i'm lumping on the half time / full time market, 5/1 for a draw at half time and us to win at full time. Plus i might have a dabble on 1-0 to us at 7/1.

Either way i am supremely confident that we will win this game. I think Chesterfield are a poor side and they struggle to score goals away. The pressure is on them as they NEED to win or they can finally forget about the play offs. I don't think this game will be pretty and it will be tight first half but second half we will turn the screw and win 1-0 but create lots of chances. If they score i'll be amazed.

It's the York game i'm worried about and not this and i am very much looking forward to reading the match report of our win in the local rag THE DERBYSHIRE TIMES. COYY!!!

So, the day has come. I really hope the new found optimism on the forum translates to The Morgue tonight. I think there is a realisation now that it is squeaky bum time and we can play a part in getting ourselves out of it. Let's hope the team capitalise on this and seize the opportunity to build some momentum.

Maybe there's a bit of a sadist in me, but I'm finding this situation easily as exciting as a promotion push. Probably because it really feels like we've turned a corner. The results SHOULD follow.

Swelled by a car full tonight for the game. Unfortunately the situation has not changed as much as Steve seems to think. Not sure how we have turned a corner without winning. Its the biggest game of the season tonight thats for sure.
If we lose again we are in terrible trouble. Win it and we will be going into Saturdays game with every chance of being almost safe - it really is that crucial.
We are minus Bodin and Downes which is a a loss for me.
If we play anything like we did against Oxford or Wycombe we will lose again thats for certain.
I really hope I am wrong but I can see it being 0-1.

The corner that Brucie can't see is the willingness to FIGHT BACK that we have displayed in the last two games!Recently at Plainmoor we have seen capitulation, & it's not pretty. As many others have said on here,it's exciting to watch the team trying again! I want a win as much as anyone else, & hoping that I see it tonight! We're going to miss Billy; Gus isn't doing so badly in defence. Joss will be up for another goal, & I'd love Rene to score in open play, but I'll take a penalty kick if necessary!

My thoughts exactly. After losing Downes so early in the Daggers game, I thought to myself (as did the other hundred or so that braved the elements) 'sh*t, this is going to be a long night'!

But something just seemed to spark the team into life in the second half and the LEAST we deserved out of it was a share of the spoils. Move forward a couple of days and it was a repeat performance.... going one down afer only 8-9 minutes was going to be an uphill task (once again)... but there seemed to be a bit of grit and determination so lacking in previous games.

...and Southend can think themselves lucky that we didn't nick it right at the end.

We can still get out of this... as long as the players put in 100% in the remaining games... and why wouldn't they!

Have a good feeling about this one and that elusive win will be ours at long last!

This game is certainly winnable. And it's a game we can and should and must win, and we must give the lads all our support. I believe Chesterfield have a very reasonable defence but, as Andy says, they struggle to score goals away. We cannot afford to play a solely defensive game with the intention of not losing, as I'm sure Alan Knill knows. We must go at them, attack and shoot at every opportunity. If we want it enough, we'll win it. And I'm sure we will, though I've no idea what the final score will be...!

Games against Wycombe,Oxford,Afc Wimbledon,Fleetwood and Port Vale were all winnable but the result ended up the same. Yes two good away points I appreciate that.
Nevertheless there will be more pressure tonight and the sort of shite that we have served up lately will be nothing like good enough.
The players have to get the fans on their side - any repeat of recent home performances is going to be met with yet another hostile reaction I'm afraid.
The game is winnable (but they all are really).

I agree with you in a way Brucie, in that it is important for the team to perform tonight. Fail to do so and the confidence / improvement seen in the last couple of games will quickly disappear.

I also am not in the least bit surprised why you fail to see that we have turned a corner! He he. The difference between our two performances this week and a month ago couldn't be further apart. I am looking forward to seeing it for myself tonight!

Brucie's glass always seems to be half empty..!! Of course the support of fans, or the lack of it, is only one factor affecting a team's performance on the pitch, and we know, or can imagine, what the others might be.

But given that their last couple of performances (away) have been a great improvement, it will be just not good enough for fans to simply stand there tonight and wait for the players to prove they deserve our support. The players are already doing that. It's time now for supporters to play their part and to cheer the lads on. This could make all the difference between winning or not winning.

The last two results have been good, and have no doubt increased the confidence of the team.

However, they both happened in away games and therefore the majority of the supporters there tonight will not have seen the games. The game, and performance, they will remember will be the Oxford game when, by all accounts, we were shocking.
Lets hope that the team come out of the blocks on fire from the off and give the crowd reason to believe that the last two results weren't just flukes and were the start of a good run where we give ourselves some breathing space from the bottom teams.
An early conceded goal, or lethargic display in the first quarter of an hour, will make the last two results a distant memory and the crowd will be on the players back quicker than Andy can say "Billy Bodin is useless".

In short - we need to team to turn up straight away, come out of the traps on fire and, hopefully, score an early goal (one for Benners would be good!!)
