What is for sure, is at the season's end, Torquay will have Knill Brass.

If only the club would have supported Martin when he wanted to bring in players in December and was blatantly turned down flat, we might not be in the position where in now. Roadrunner will now that Martin asked to bring in various players but was told by the board that we didn't have the money. They thought we were safe at the time and never saw the collapse coming. But at the time with a bit of investment it was the difference of knocking on the door of the play offs or just being safe. How bloody wrong were they. Funny how with our league status at threat we are now pulling players and staff in from everywhere .

Won't even be able to afford a "Taylor" for a new coat....... which could could get chilly in a Curling North wind - have to Buckle right up or stand in the Lee. At least it will stop you Lingering about!

The thing is, some of us have been saying that for quite some time but a word from Simple Simon and the masses just fall in line. The spin put out is that Ling didn't feel the need to bring anyone in, some of us know that wasn't the case. He's a decent sort though, he stands on the Pop you know............................

Penny wise and pound foolish or what !
Dont think we'll be hearing a managing director publicly saying we don't need anyone BEFORE the transfer window shuts again do you.
Just hope if we do it's not the same one.

Do we know that this was the case? Because I have heard from one of the consortium that the opposite is true. If what you are saying is true then it is indeed a Batesonesque policy that has backfired badly.

However, Ling was often quoted as suggesting that alternatives lay within his squad, so it is difficult to know who to believe.

It should be remembered that Martin Ling wished to work with a full squad of twenty-four players, which one would imagine would be close to the club's limit. It would appear that he was happy with this squad and felt no real need to bring in any other players.
Other managers at Torquay United have worked a different system; for instance Paul Buckle liked to keep the squad fairly trim but bolster it up with loanees as needed.
Now that Alan Knill has been brought in to oversee the playing side of the club he probably has his own system to which he works to and that is now been put into operation.

I was sat in the bench for the first time last night and I must say, it was good to see Chris Brass being very vocal on the touchline. Didn't spot or hear Shaun Taylor at all though and his body language was fairly subdued when they walked off at full time.

Must be difficult for him, but good to see the activity of Knill and Brass up close.

I agree - it was also good to see a more animated approach on the touchline.
