I'd say there is a difference between a poachers instinct and being a natural finisher though. And this where I think the problem lies for Yeoman. Benyon relies on others creating the opportunity which he finishes off. Most of his goals come from times when the ball is bouncing around the box and he rarely takes more than 1 touch and in the net.

With a natural finisher, they have to have other areas of their game which are good as they often have to create the chance themselves. Look at Billy Kee, David Graham and Rene Howe, probably three of the most natural goalscorers I have ever seen at TUFC. All of them could dribble, would often score from outside the box and almost always created chances and therefore goals out of nothing.

Coming back to Yeoman, I don't think he has the technical ability of Kee, Graham and Howe and doesn't create the chances that they do. He doesn't have the instinct of Benyon, so I really can't see where his goals are coming from.

I can't help but feel that the statement that Ling released was probably more to try and get something out of him, rather than him actually being a star for the future.

Have we got a definite list of who is out of contract?

I would move on the vast majority in all honesty, the management situation obviously has to take priority.

Jarvis is splitting opinion and I agree with Fonda that over the full season hasn't done enough to earn himself a new contract.

I would imagine he is one of the higher earners too considering we signed him from a higher division.

Anyinsah would probably be out of our price range but if releasing Jarvis freed up budget for that type of signing I wouldnt hesitate.

Rice - decent backup keeper for this level
Oastler - not a big fan personally but unsure we'll get better
Downes - 1 year, need some experience in this group
Saah - no brainer
Howe - but he'll go
Yeoman - like what i've seen from him and hopefully he'll push on next year.
Jarvis - 50/50 on this, gone for keep but if he goes I won't care as he'd only be a squad player ideally.
N Thompson - probably worth another look

Leadbitter - prefer him to Oastler but it's clear 2 management teams don't, must be a reason for this. time to move on and get a better RB making Oastler a squad player.
McKenzie - Not sure he'll be anything more than another Ed Palmer but if he stays then so be it.
Cruise - Again same as Leadbitter.
Easton - Dreadful player, first to go for me.
Morris - Been here 2 years, still not sure if he's any good or not. Time to go.
Stevens - injuries ruined this year for him but I want to change most of our wingers so time for Danny to move on.
Macklin - Been here 3 seasons, does well in pre season then never seen again. Bored of waiting for him now.
Halpin - Not good enough

Ideally Craig would be on the gone list as well but he's got another year by the looks of it.

His goal at Morecambe was indeed a good goal, but one swallow does not a summer make. Unfortunately, I don't think he can offer us any more than a 4th choice striker can.

he apparently played well on saturday too and to be fair to him, hes not exactly had a good run in the team.

He's playing for his footballing career though, of course he's going to try harder. I really do hope I am proved wrong by him, but I just don't believe that he has enough in his locker in terms of ability.

I note a few on here have suggested Anyinsah as a priority signing. Joe Anyinsah is not the answer for you unless you are after someone who plays 1 game in 3 due to constant hamstring injury and then will have one good game in three when he does play. Has the talent but the attitude is all wrong and has been for the majority of his career. His wages that we are paying him would probably be out of reach as we signed him under Buckle so he would probably be one of our bigger earnings but beggars can't be choosers and I don't see there being a rush to sign him. My advice...don't bother as I certainly would have been unhappy if John Ward had offered him a contract..

We are weird with those kinds of players though friendlygas, we seem to bring the best in them out. You only have to look at the likes of Howe and Zebroski for recent examples. We tend to build teams out of unwanted players and journeymen and do fairly well with them.

People on this very forum used to complain about the inconsistency of a certain Mustafa Carayol. Look at him now.

Please please please sign some bigger guys. we see the same thing every year and they are needed to get out of this division.
