Also depends if we've already paid up or not.

Bloody hope we haven't, especially as it's unlikely he could ever have claimed his full salary for the full length of the contract (you have a duty to mitigate your loss, so you can't just sit on your arse and not even try to get a new job).

That seems to be what happens though. Managers get sacked and then don't take another job until their compo is sorted.

Not good news at all as he has something to prove after the way he was treated here, and what better way to do it than spurring his new club on to leave us stranded at the bottom of the table!

He left the Board no choice whatsoever, after they had given him more than enough opportunity to sort things out (imo)

We can't speak with authority on what he may or may not be owed. The deals are not set in stone, they're bespoke and could have all sorts of clauses in them. We could be paying his dry cleaning bill for the next two years, for all we know.

No you are right I have never been so confident about our future as I am now. Just surprised Tim Sills hasn't signed yet!

Couldn't care less about Knill going to Northampton but pleased for him that he has got himself fixed up with another job in football. I am more worried that Chris Wilder has gone to the Cobblers. It makes it even worse that the weather conspired against the game when they were without a manager.

I am still trying to puzzle out why Wilder has jumped ship at Oxford - I mean Northampton are hardly a bigger club. It seems as though Wilder has an agent - he is a bog standard league 2 and Conference manager, no great shakes.
He is just as likely to fall flat on his arse at Northampton as he is to rescue them.
They may sign a few players so what - the notion that they may turn up to Plainmoor in two weeks time with a world beating line up is fanciful at best.

I would say that's a little unfair Brucie. He is one of the few lower league managers whose career is actually on the up. He has so far not had any real failure to speak of. He is yet to be sacked and each new job has taken him a step higher up the ladder. Yes, Northampton may not traditionally be a bigger club than Oxford but at the present time, with the state of both clubs and the finances available to the manager I would say Northampton is a step up from Oxford.

Northampton are an embarrassment to professional football. A joke club run by a circus clown. They take a massive budget and high profile manager and come in the bottom third every year (last year was a freak).

Proper clubs (we among them) can chuckle away to ourselves knowing that even if we don't have a great season, lb for lb, we'll always do better than Cobblers FC.

Wilder isn't half as good as his team looks. Getting a club like that out of the Conference is no challenge and his continued failure to get Oxford anywhere near promotion from a wickedly poor L2 is pretty bad.

Nothing against the bloke, but if Aidy Boothroyd et al couldn't do anything for them with the money on offer, there is clearly something systemically wrong at the club. Wilder isn't good enough to overcome that. He'll be sacked next Christmas having spent £500,000 on 5 blokes on £5000/week and he'll leave with NTFC in 19th place, like usual.
